After waking up from his nine-month coma, Barry realized his new abilities and identity as a meta-human, coming out as Central City’s leading hero. Unlike Oliver Queen, who had kicked off the Arrowverse beforeThe Flasharrived, Barry was an upbeat person. Although Barry’s past contained the tragedy of his mother’s murder and father’s time in prison, he was still raised to have a positive outlook on life by Joe. Following his mother’s death, Barry believed in the impossible when no one else did, which meant that when the time arrived, Barry transitioned into the leader of Team Flash as he fully embraced his new identity as a speedster.
When it comes to having a positive attitude and embracing leadership, not every character can have both. Although the Arrowverse is filled with other characters like Barry, who have superpowers thrust upon them or go about saving the world on a daily basis, there are several other individuals outside the Arrowverse that either uphold a positive and upbeat persona in the heat of conflict or whose ability to lead in the worst of times results in others looking to them.
Teen Wolf - Scott McCall
Scott’s leadership is similar to Barry’s in one way above all. Neither of them believes in killing anyone. Scott leads his pack to avoid killing innocent people or their enemies. Scott is a rare form of Alpha, one who rises in the ranks based entirely on the content of his character and not through traditional werewolf rituals or through killing another Alpha to gain their power.
Scott looks at his pack as a family, just as Barry looks at Team Flash as his. Scott’s dedication to protecting his friends and Beacon Hills keeps him grounded, and even ifhe does not always make the best decision, his intentions and values always remain with caring for those he loves.
Once Upon a Time - Snow White
Just like Barry, Snow White holds a complicated relationship and backstory with someone who plays one of the biggest roles in her life. In Barry’s case, it is the Reverse Flash who killed his mother, then infiltrated his life under false pretenses and spent the rest of the series striving to kill him. In Snow White’s case,her relationship with Reginamay be the most complicated in the series.
Although they were briefly friends, a revealed secret and the death of a loved one resulted in Regina’s transition into the Evil Queen and her plots for revenge against Snow White. But Regina could not escape her completely, eventually adopting Snow’s biological grandson as her child. They go on to become friends and family. As leaders in the Enchanted Forest, Snow and Charming led the rebellion to gain back control of the kingdom and protect its people.
Legacies - MG
MG was never as much of a leader to the Super Squad as Hope, Josie, or Lizzie, nor did he ever hold as significant an arc as the three of them. However, MG still stepped into leadership roles when the time called for it, especially after Hope’s humanity turned off. While Josie focused on trying to help Hope and Lizzie planned her revenge,MG was left to hold down the Super Squad.
When Hope challenges MG to kill her and to end it all, MG refuses. Hope is his friend, and although she is not in the right state of mind at the moment, MG will not end his friend’s life. To MG, leadership can be about making hard choices, but it does not have to be about killing.

Upbeat and optimistic even when she is repeatedly killed and kidnapped, Caroline is always willing to step up when she is called in to help. Although Caroline was not at the center of everything all the time, as the show went on, Caroline became far more prominent. She fully embraced being a vampire,becoming one of the best in the franchise.
Although Caroline was not necessarily the Mystic Falls gang’s leader, when she had a say, she made it count. Caroline’s willingness to have unique relationships with the Mikaelson siblings, Klaus more than any of them, offered her the chance to show that she is capable of seeing the best in people.
MCU - Peter Parker
Charismatic and young superhero Peter Parker is a great connection toThe Flash’sBarry Allen. In the MCU, Peter is already younger as Spider-Man than Barry had been when he was hit by lightning. But both thoroughly enjoyed everything they were capable of achieving.
Unlike Barry Allen, Peter Parker is never directly considered a leader of a team in charge of helping save the world. But, throughout his time as Spider-Man, Peter has learned the more dangerous and emotionally difficult conflicts of being a hero.
Roswell, New Mexico - Liz Ortecho
Although Liz is not supernatural, she has devoted herself to helping and protecting her supernatural friends Max, Michael, and Isobel. Liz understood the tragedy that came with losing a loved one, as she spent years believing her older sister was dead. She connected Max, Michael, and Isobel with Kyle, who had never had that much to do with the sibling trio when they all went to school together.
Even though Liz had a habit of occasionally going down the science rabbit hole a little deeper than Max was comfortable with, her wants and goals always revolved around trying to protect and help those she loved with whatever threat they faced.
The Good Place - Chidi Anagonye
Chidi’s heart was always in the right place, and he strongly believed in morals and ethics. While he was never directly in the line of fire like Barry Allen finds himself in countless times, Chidi did have a say in a way to help save everyone from an afterlife of torture.
