Quentin Tarantinois considered one of the greatest directors of contemporary cinema. Using excessive foul language and gratuitous violence, he is notoriously unafraid to tackle the nitty-gritty in his films, striking up an equal deal of controversy and classics. Despite this, Taratino has made a name for himself as an auteur thanks to his highly stylized way of filmmaking and the films he chooses to create.
Tarantino’s name is immediately recognizable as he has been behind some of the most iconic movies of all time. Between theKill Billfranchiseand90s classicPulp Fiction, Tarantino is unafraid to conquer what most would deem as vile and gritty content that is oftentimes hard to watch. While he pays close attention to detail, he is not immune to letting some mistakes slip through the cracks. Here are 10 Quentin Tarantino movie mistakes that you may have missed along the way.

10Phantom Bullet Holes — Pulp Fiction
Considering the fact thatPulp Fictionis considered Tarantino’s best work, it’s hard to believe that it has any flaws whatsoever, but thanks to the hard work of his fans, a continuity error has been brought to light. In the famous scene where Jules gives his iconic speech, a stranger shoots into the wall six times, all of which miss the hitmen. However, the bullet holes in the wall can be seen before the shots are even fired. This mistake may seem small, but it’s hard to believe that Tarantino missed this in post-production, considering his attention to detail.

9Nice Guy Eddie Died Without Getting Shot — Reservoir Dogs
In Tarantino’s directorial debut,Reservoir Dogs, we follow a group of criminals who carry out a heist that goes terribly wrong, revealing betrayal, sadism, and even an undercover cop. Inthe final shootoutbetween Joe, Mr. White, and Nice Guy Eddie, shots are fired, and each man falls to the ground, including Eddie. However, upon closer observation, Nice Guy Eddie collapses as if he’s been shot, when, in reality, Mr. White shot Joe, and Joe shot Mr. White — so, who shot Eddie? This mistake was the result of a faulty blood squib that never fired, but rather than reshoot the scene, Tarantino decided to roll with it.
8Historical Inaccuracy — Django: Unchained
ThoughDjango: Unchainedis one of the best critical films that shows the harsh realities of America’s past with slavery and uses historically accurate language, you would think that Tarantino would maintain that level of accuracy throughout the film. However, there is one inaccuracy that has gone unnoticed by many. In the final scene, Django decides to blow up Candyland with dynamite, but dynamite wouldn’t have been in existence during the time the film is set. What’s more, by the time dynamite was invented, slavery had already been abolished. This inaccuracy is understandable, but Tarantino could’ve devised a more accurate ending — of course, it wouldn’t be as cathartic as the explosion of Candyland.
TheKill Billfranchise is arguably Tarantino’s most iconic work as he concocted one of thebest revenge storiesto ever hit the screens. One easily missed mistake can be seen during the meeting between O-Ren and the other yakuza bosses inKill Bill Vol. 1. O-Ren decapitates Boss Tanaka and his head rolls away; however, during her speech, O-Ren holds up Tanaka’s head despite not moving to collect it from where it fell. While this isn’t a huge error in continuity, it is still a mistake all the same.

6Hung or Hanged — The Hateful Eight
One thing that superfans have pointed out is that Tarantino’s sense of grammar and spelling is not fantastic. This is proven inThe Hateful Eightwhen characters use the wrong grammar. Daisy, who is wanted dead or alive, is set to be executed when she is brought in. Throughout the film, several characters say that Daisy is “to be hung” when they should really be saying “hanged” as objects are hung and people are hanged. This small mistake would probably remain unnoticed were it not for the grammar fanatics doing great work.
5Pressed the Wrong Button — Jackie Brown
Jackie Brownis arguably one of Tarantino’s most underrated films that deserves more attention, especially thanks to performances from the cast. However, the film is not without its flaws. At the beginning, when Ordell shows De Niro “girls with guns,” he suggests running the tape fast, and Ordell presses the rewind button rather than the fast-forward button. This continuity error is another mistake that, while not ground-breaking, is still going to nag at you every time you rewatch the film.

4Too Many Bullets — True Romance
True Romanceis yet another Tarantino film that often flies under the radar despite its unique plotline and phenomenal cast. Main character Clarence goes to retrieve Alabama’s belongings from the pimp house that she occupies. After a tense conversation with her pimp, Drexel, Clarence kills him, firing seven shots. There may seem to be nothing wrong with this, but the gun Clarence used only held six rounds. This mistake would’ve easily gone unnoticed by most aside from the gun fanatics.
3Hat or No Hat — Once Upon a Time in Hollywood
Once Upon a Time in Hollywoodis a critique of Hollywood and how people struggle not only to maintain popularity and wealth, but also stay relevant in a changing world. One mistake that probably should’ve been dealt with is when Rick Dalton and Jim Stacy speak, and Jim’s hat reappears on his head after being absent. While some have argued that this is not a mistake and was done intentionally to show the passage of time, realistically, there are better (and clearer) ways to show the audience the passage of time.
2Excessive Crust — Kill Bill Vol. 2
At the end ofKill Bill Vol. 2, when the Bride and Bill finally come head-to-head, Bill begins making a sandwich for her. He can be seen cutting the crust off and cleaning it off the cutting board before cutting the sandwich in half. After he hands the sandwich to BB, he cleans up even more discarded crust and begins to make another sandwich. This mistake shows a lack of continuity on Tarantino’s part as Bill shouldn’t be cleaning up two rounds of crust after just one sandwich. This is quite a stupid mistake, which is probably why it’s gone unreported for the most part.
1Adrenaline Shot — Pulp Fiction
For the most part,Pulp Fictionis well-constructed, considering the complex modality of storytelling as well as the number of storylines within the structure of the film. That being said, as previously mentioned above, the film is not without its mistakes. When Mia is overdosing and needs adrenaline to stay alive, they mark her chest with a red magic marker so that Vincent knows where to inject the adrenaline, but once she’s received the shot and becomes conscious again, the red mark has completely disappeared.
