It’s now been more than a decade since the show began, but, after waiting patiently,Netflixhas finally landed the rights to stream one of the greatestscience fictionshows of all time. The recipient of several awards throughout its five-season run, many of them thanks to a chameleonic-leading performance, the series will now land on the popular streaming platform in the United States for the first time.

The series in question isOrphan Black, a sci-fi thriller brimming with all manner of twists and turns as main character Sarah Manning, played byTatiana Maslany, discovers that she is not alone. Far from it, in fact. Netflix has now secured the rights to Orphan Black in its entirety, according toWhat’s on Netflix, meaning that many more will get the chance to discover the sheer brilliance of the sci-fi saga.

Orphan Blackfirst aired back in 2013, running for five seasons and concluding in 2017. Led byShe-Hulk: Attorney at LawandPerry Masonstar Tatiana Maslany, the series kicks off when Sarah Manning spots someone who looks uncomfortably like her. And, it turns out, this mysterious doppelganger is more like her than she ever expected. All five seasons ofOrphan Blackwill land on Netflix next month on July 08, 2025, and you can check out the official synopsis below.

“Sarah is a street-wise woman with a troubled past as an English orphan who bounced around foster homes before being taken in by Mrs. S, who uprooted her and her foster brother, Felix, to North America. She has made bad decisions in her life but always strives to do right by daughter Kira. When Sarah witnesses the suicide of Beth, a woman who looks like her, she decides to steal Beth’s identity – boyfriend and money included – in an attempt to begin a new life for herself and Kira, with whom Sarah hopes to reunite.

But assuming Beth’s life – Sarah eventually learns that Beth was her clone – doesn’t go as smoothly as she anticipates because Beth was a cop caught in the middle of a deadly conspiracy, making Sarah the new target. Sarah must fight to stay alive while trying to escape from the complex web. As more threads appear, Sarah is pulled deeper, and Felix becomes her one true confidant.”

‘Orphan Black’ Boasts a Near-Perfect Score on Rotten Tomatoes

Orphan Blackis considered not justone of the best sci-fi shows, but one of the best shows, period. The series was met with critical acclaim throughout its run, with Tatiana Maslany receiving high praise for her multiple roles, which earned her plenty of awards and nominations, including a Primetime Emmy Award and two Critics' Choice Television Awards. The series now sits at a comfortably brilliant 93% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, alongside 92% from audiences on the Popcornmeter. Demonstrating how in agreement the two groups, which are often divided in their respective reactions, are in declaring the brilliance ofOrphan Black.

Following the original series, a spin-offled by another Marvel star,Jessica Jones’ Krysten Ritter, was released just last year. Sadly,Orphan Black: Echoesfailed to live up to the legacy of its predecessor and was canceled after one season. Fortunately, audiences can find out for themselveshow impossible a task that waswhenOrphan Blacklands on Netflix in September.
