InAfter the Wedding, Isabel (Michelle Williams) has dedicated her life to working with the children in an orphanage in Calcutta. Theresa (Moore) is the multimillionaire head of a media company who lives with her artist husband (Crudup) and their twin boys in New York. When word comes to Isabel of a mysterious and generous grant for the financially struggling orphanage, she must travel to New York to meet the benefactor-Theresa-in person.

Bart Freundlich is directingAfter the Weddingfrom a screenplay he collaborated on with Susanne Bier, based on the original screenplay from Anders Thomas Jensen and Bier. This is a remake of the 2006 movie of the same name starring Mads Mikkelsen. Billy Crudup, Abby Quinn, Will Chase and Eisa Davis join Michelle Williams andJulianne Moorein the ensemble cast.
The movie was the opening night film of the 2019 Sundance Film Festival. Diane Kruger was originally cast in the role of Isabel, but had to bail due to scheduling conflicts. She was later replaced by Michelle Williams.
