Almost exactly one month ago today, the first set photo surfaced fromAlien: Covenant, as production got under way in Australia on directorRidley Scott’s sci-fi epic. That particular image revealed the Weyland-Yutani connection to this movie, while we’ve also seen photos of a massive alien massacre over the past few weeks. We haven’t gotten any official first looks at the cast members, but that all changed today with the arrival of a new photo featuringKatherine Waterstonas Daniels.
This new image debuted from theAlien Anthology Twitterpage, which was taken directly from one of the monitors on set. We don’t know for sure if this photo was taken on the Covenant ship itself, or where in the story this scene takes place. The story follows the crew of the colony ship Covenant, who are bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy. They discover what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world, whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.
Alien: Covenantstarts a new prequel trilogy that will bridge the gap in the events betweenPrometheusand theoriginal Alien.Michael Fassbenderwill be the only originalPrometheusstar returning, reprising his role as the android David. Back in December, it was confirmed that iconic Alien creatures such as the Facehugger, Chestburster andXenomorphwill be appearing in the sequel.

We learned late last year that the story is set a decade after the events ofPrometheus. There have been reports that the other survivor fromPrometheus, Noomi Rapace’sElizabeth Shawis coming back, but now it seems that she will not be returning.
