Amazon’sThe Wheel of Timeseries finally gets some momentum as filming for the first season has reportedly come to a close. There have been several “social media posts of key crew members celebrating the completion of the first season.” Although no official announcement has been given, this seems to be a pretty significant sign. Filming of the show had been uneasy due to production halting multiple times due to COVID-19. The series began production in September 2019 before pausing in March 2020. It would later resume before yet another pause. Thankfully, filming is no longer required, andWheel of Timewill now enter post production.
Rafe Judkins, the showrunner, had previously stated that theshutdownswere ultimately good for the series as it allowed them to refine and perfect the show. He said it even allowed them to delve into the possibilities and storylines of Season 2 (assuming it gets renewed) as they improved the first season.
“If my job is to protect the spine and the heart of what’s there, sometimes that is changing things. Because sometimes if you did them exactly as they were, a new audience to it wouldn’t actually understand the heart of what’s there because a lot of it is expressed inside someone’s head or it’s expressed by a character that gets a POV that we can’t really do on television. It’s those kind of things. You know a huge cast member coming for one scene and then not appearing for three books later causes all sorts of logistical problems.”
