Anna Camphas made a name for herself by stealing scenes in movies and TV series while also perfecting her craft on stage. She built up her acting career with guest star roles during the late 2000s and early 2010s before her big film breakout in 2012’sPitch Perfect. Camp has a bubbliness about her characters, but she also plays tough women who strive to show others how strong they are, especially if others doubt them.
In her latest filmBride Hard, she plays a woman getting married who has Rebel Wilson as her maid of honor. Rebel’s character is a secret agent, and a group of mercenaries crashes the wedding. It’s then up to Camp and the rest of the wedding party to help Wilson take down the villains in this spy comedy. For those interested in more of Camp’s signature roles, she’s had quite a few across TV and films. Here are the best.

10Edie in ‘The Lovebirds’ (2020)
The Lovebirdsstars Kumail Nanjiani and Issa Rae as Jibran and Leilani, a couple who were on the verge of ending their relationship until a car accident sets a crazy chain of events in motion, forcing them to evade the police and ultimately rekindle their romance. Camp plays Edie, a woman whom Jibrani and Leilani meet when they follow up with a lead from the accident. It turns out that Edie is not who she seems and her and her husband Brett (Kyle Bornheimer) want revenge for a blackmail plot related to the victim of the accident.
The Lovebirds
It’s a small role for Camp, but it’s a memorable one. While dressed up in a nice outfit because the main characters meet her in bar, it turns out she is anything but nice. Her interactions with Rae and Nanjiani are scary yet funny because they have no idea what she’s talking about, and they try to plead their case of mistaken identity. There’s a choice Brett and Edie force on the couple that is both hilarious and painful.
9Peg Prickett in ‘Brave New Jersey’ (2016)
Brave New Jerseytells the story of a town in New Jersey that tuned into the famousTheWar of the Worldsradio broadcast in 1938 but didn’t realize it was someone reading a book on a radio program. The town goes into chaos as they suspect aliens are coming for their town and the rest of the world. The story takes some true accounts of the reactions from that night while adding some fun story elements to this comedy.
Brave New Jersey
It costars Tony Hale, Mel Rodriguez, Sam Jaeger, Heather Burns, Dan Bakkedahl, Raymond J. Berry, and Erika Alexander. Camp plays Peg Prickett, the town’s school teacher who isn’t afraid to show her might in the face of extraterrestrials and other entities. While not widely seen, it’s an underrated and irreverent comedy witha quality ensemble cast.
8Ginny in ‘Perfect Harmony’ (2019)
Camp is one of the two main stars onPerfect Harmony, an NBC sitcom that ran from 2019 to 2020. It also stars Bradley Whitford as Dr. Arthur Cochran, a former Ivy League professor who is hired to be the music director of a church choir in Kentucky. But eventually, they mesh and collaborate well together.
Perfect Harmony
Perfect Harmonyshowed off Camp’s singing ability, which she became well-known for in her biggest role ever inPitch Perfect.Whitford played the cantakerous Arthurwell, and the show costars Rizwan Manji, Will Greenberg, Tymberlee Hill, Geno Segers, and Spencer Allport. 7Gwen Grandy in ‘The Mindy Project’ (2012-2013)
Remember Gwen? She was only in the first season ofThe Mindy Projectand was Mindy Kaling’s character’s best friend. Gwen was married with a child, so her lifestyle wasmuch different than Mindy’sin the show. But she also wasn’t a character who worked at the doctor’s office and when the show focused more on Mindy’s work life rather than her overall life, Gwen’s character became a bit superfluous.
The Mindy Project
Camp recognized this and asked Kaling for a reduced role so she could audition for other pilots and shows. It is strange that the main character’s best friend was written off the show, especially after she was in 12 episodes in the first season. But it ultimately worked as Camp was inVegas, How I Met Your Mother, and several other projects in the yearsThe Mindy Projectran.
6Brooke in ‘Desperados’ (2020)
Romantic comedies where one person drags their friends somewhere to provide comedic relief as they look for love have been done before.Desperadoswas a bit different, as Nasim Pedrad stars as Wesley, a woman who, following a blind date, meets Jared (Robbie Amell) on the street and begins a relationship. After she thinks he ghosted her, Wesley gets drunk with her friends Brooke (Camp) and Kaylie (Sarah Burns) and sends him a nasty email. When Jared calls her later on to say that he was in a bad accident in Mexico and that’s why he didn’t contact her, the trio of women decide to fly to Mexico and delete the email before he can see it.
Desperados
Camp and Burns provide solid comedic relief as the doting but ride-or-die friends for Wesley. While the film ends up going down a predictable route, Burns and Camp are the best parts of the film. It’s a light and airy comedy that is fine to enjoy for an afternoon and,for fans ofNew Girl, it’s fun to see Lamorne Morris and Pedrad together again on screen for some scenes.
5Reagan and Maddie Lockwood in ‘You’ (2025)
Youis a stylish and sleek thriller series on Netflix that stars Penn Badgley as Joe, a serial killer with obsessive love disorder. Joe stalks his victims and falls head over heels for them while manipulating them. Camp took on dual roles in Season 5 of You, playing both Reagan and Maddie Lockwood, both the sisters of Joe’s wife Kate. Reagan is the CFO of the Lockwood Corp, the company for which Joe’s wife is the CEO, and Maddie is a socialite who does PR for the company.
Camp fits right in with this soapy series, giving over-the-top (in the best way) performances of both characters. Reagan and Maddie may be identical twins, but they are incredibly different people despite both being cutthroat and manipulative. As any audience member who has seen Season 5 ofYouwill understand, things couldn’t possibly work out for both Reagan and Maddie, not with Joe in their lives.

Hysteria!aired on Peacock for one season and focused on a town in Michigan in the 1980s where the star high school quarterback went missing. During the height of the Satanic Panic, where people were afraid of the occult and satanic cults, a metal band decides to turn themselves into a satanic rock band to gain more popularity. Things get hairier when more disappearances and murders occur in the town. The show stars Emjay Anthony, Chiara Aurelia, and Kezil Curtis as Dylan, Jordy, and Spud, the three members of the band, as well as Julie Bowen as Dylan’s mom andCamp stars as Tracy, a single mother to Faith and a devout Christian.
Another role where she plays the “villain,” Tracy is the person who leads the town’s outrage against the band’s performances. She is a fear-monger who attempts to work others in her favor against the band. Sporting wild glasses and very conservative clothing, Tracy is one of Camp’s most unique characters, as she truly is a stick in the mud.

3Jane Hollander in ‘Good Girls Revolt’ (2016)
Based on real-life events,Good Girls Revoltis about a group of female writers at News of the Week magazine during the women’s movement of the late 1960s. As the world around them becomes more accepting of female roles, newsrooms fail to meet the standards. The women work harder than the men at the magazine and get little to no recognition for it. The group of women decides to stand up to their mistreatment, sparking a revolution in the process. Camp stars as Jane Hollander who, alongside Genevieve Angelson’s Patti Robinson and Erin Darke’s Cindy Reston, lead the newsroom’s female contingent in their quest for equality.
Good Girls Revolt
The show has a veryMad Men-like feel to it and Hollander is an ideal example of someone trying to fit into society while also aiming to forge their own path forward. The women didn’t set out to become rule breakers, but their intellect and drive made them strive for more. Theshow ran on Prime Videofor one season before being canceled.
2Sarah Newlin in ‘True Blood’ (2009, 2013 - 2014)
Another villain role and time period for Camp was her three-season run as Sarah Newlin inTrue Blood. Introduced in Season 2 as a co-leader of the anti-vampire church Fellowship of the Sun, Newlin strikes up an affair with Jason Stackhouse when he is believed to be killing vampires. She returns in Season 6 and 7 as the main antagonist because she helps create and weaponize Hep-V, a deadly virus that can target vampires.
true blood
Newlin is manipulative and self-serving, as a cruel twist becomes her in the final season, inflating her ego and turning her into a zealot. Camp really sinks her teeth into the role (pun intended) as shebecomes a characterthatTrue Bloodfans loved to hate. Plus, she can do more damage with a pair of heels than most people can.

1Aubrey Posen in ‘Pitch Perfect’ (2012)
The leader of the Barden Bellas, Aubrey Posen is a role where Camp was able to show off her comedic and singing chops inPitch Perfect, Pitch Perfect 2,andPitch Perfect 3. Aubrey at first was reluctant to include Anna Kendrick’s Beca into the fray, as she only trusted her best friend Chloe (Brittany Snow). But Aubrey was forced to come around as her set lists weren’t winning the Bellas any competitions. After the global success of the first film, Campreprised her role in two sequels, as Aubrey continued to be a leading voice for the Bellas.
Pitch Perfect
The franchise helped launch Camp’s stardom and made her a bigger name in Hollywood. Aubrey’s ability to lose her lunch because of nerves made for one of the grosser comedy moments in the past 20 years in the first film. Aubrey was a bit uptight but through Barden Bella magic, learned to become more accepting, leaving her mark on Camp’s career.
