Season 2 ofTwisted Metalhas recently completed filming, and starAnthony Mackiehas been teasing that the action-packed return of the Peacock series is going to see “a lot of sh-t” get blown up in the name of entertainment. For fans of the video game adaptation, this is exactly the kind of thing they have been waiting to hear.
Twisted Metal debuted on Peacock in 2023with an incredibly impressive viewership, quickly becoming the most binged original series in the streamer’s history at the time. This was not the only success the series had, as alongside a so-so 67% Tomatometer score from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, the show landed a huge 93% from audiences, putting it among some of the best video game adaptations ever.

With those stats backing it up, a renewal was quick in coming, and after several production updates, Mackie has now further hyped the upcoming return of the Playstation franchise adaptation. He toldEsquire:
“We just finished it. We shot it in Canada and we blew up a lot of s–t. Every day we blew something up. There were days where the police would come out and be like ‘Y’all can’t blow this up’ and we would wait for them to leave and we would blow it up anyway. It was insane. We blew up people, we blew up houses, we blew up cars. Just know some s—t’s gonna get blown up in season two it was a blast.”

Fans ofTwisted Metalhave been waiting for more news about the second season for several months since the announcement that filming had wrapped back in November 2024. At the time, Michael Jonathan Smith commented,“This production was unforgettable. Our incredibly talented cast and crew brought the thunder and helped deliver something truly special. A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this season even bigger than the first one.”
When discussing how the second season could continue the story, Mackie previously commented:

“He’s going to have some challenges that’s gonna come his way, that’s gonna force his hand to be more of an adult and make some really tough decisions because you’re able to’t be a milkman all your life. We’ve seen what happens to milkmen. So you have to decide what’s most important — hold your milkman status, or grow up and be an adult.”

Season 2 ofTwisted Metalis expected to focus on a deadly tournament arcfrom the original video game, and the show has another stacked cast ready to make this season as gloriously over the top and action-packed as its predecessor. Anthony Carrigan, Sayor Bell Curda, Michael James Shaw, Richard de Klerk, Tiana Okoye, Patty Guggenheim, and Lisa Gilroy will all join the ensemble, which also includes returnees Mackie, Samoa Joe, Will Arnett, Stephanie Beatriz, Thomas Haden Church, and Richard Cabral. There is currently no premiere date for Season 2, but the first season is currently available to stream on Peacock.
