TheMarvel Cinematic Universeis about to get much bigger next year withCaptain America: Civil War, the first of Marvel’s ninePhase Threemovies which culminates with the two-part epic adventureAvengers: Infinity War Part 1andAvengers: Infinity War Part 2in 2018 and 2019. At the same time, another corner of the Marvel universe is being explored with the Netflix TV showsMarvel’s Daredevil, which is currently streaming,Marvel’s A.K.A. Jessica Jones,Marvel’s Luke CageandMarvel’s Iron Fist. These shows, which have already been confirmed to be a part of the MCU, will all converge with the miniseriesThe Defenders, although it isn’t known when that will air. Today we have a new rumor fromBleeding Coolthat reveals all ofThe Defenderswill be present forAvengers: Infinity War Part 2.

No specific details were given as to how they may fit into the story, but it’s certainly possible that the immense battle for the Infinity Stones will take place in New York, where the Avengers Tower is located. All of these Netflix shows are set in New York as well, so it’s certainly feasible that they could cross over and join Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. Of course, no story details have been given just yet, sinceChristopher MarkusandStephen McFeely(Captain America: The Winter SoldierandCaptain America: Civil War) were just recently confirmed to write the script. The writers will be reuniting with directorsAnthony RussoandJoe Russofor the two-part project.

Next month’sAvengers: Age of Ultronwill set up a brand new team of Avengers, and it was also recently rumored that none of the original heroes will even be present forAvengers: Infinity War Part 1, although they all come back into the fold to fight Thanos inAvengers: Infinity War Part 2. While that is not confirmed at this time, if all of the original heroes are coming back to fight Thanos, it would make sense that they also call in some reinforcements from across town,The Defenders, as well.
