After languishing in development for years, Sony’sBad Boys 3finally started moving forward in the right direction, when filmmakerJoe Carnahancame aboard to write and direct. We haven’t heard too much about the project yet, with producerJerry Bruckheimerrevealing in April that they have yet to get a script in from the writer-director, although later that month, the movie was also featured as part of a sizzle reel shown to exhibitors at CinemaCon. Today we have word that the sequel has a new title,Bad Boys for Life, while the movie has been pushed by six months into 2018.

Exhibitor Relations revealed onTwitterthat the title has been changed toBad Boys For Life, with the movie being pushed from June 10, 2025 to June 08, 2025. Theaction sequelwill now go up against 20th Century Fox’sMaze Runner: The Death Cureand Paramount’sSherlock Gnomes. No plot details have been given thus far, and we still don’t know for sure ifJoe Carnahanhas turned in the script of not.

Will Smithconfirmed in February that both he andMartin Lawrencewill reprise their roles as Mike Lowery and Marcus Burnett. It isn’t known if other franchise stars such asTheresa Randle,Joe PantolianoorGabrielle Unionwill return to reprise their roles.Jerry Bruckheimeris also returning to produce, but we don’t know ifBad BoysandBad Boys IIdirectorMichael Baywill be involved in any capacity. The originalBad BoysmarkedMichael Bay’s directorial debut back in 1995.

The first “Bad Boys” was released in 1995 and grossed $66 million domestically and $141 million worldwide. The 2003 sequel grossed $138 million domestically and $273 million worldwide. Back in February,Joe Carnahanrevealed a pre-visualization sequence for a freewaymotorcycle chasesequence, but that is the only thing we’ve seen or heard from this sequel, at least in regards to the story. With the release date being pushed to early 2017, it seems likely that filming won’t begin until early 2017, or possibly late 2016.

Will Smithis expected to start filming onBrightfor Netflix later this year, and there have been rumors that Warner Bros. wants him to start filmingSuicide Squad 2in early 2017, but that hasn’t been confirmed.Martin Lawrencemost recently starred in the 2014 FX TV seriesPartnerswithKelsey Grammer, which only lasted one season.
