Batman v Superman: Dawn of JusticedirectorZack Snydersent outthe first official poster last nightfeaturingJason Momoaas Aquaman, but, as wepointed out earlier today, the most intriguing aspectof the one-sheet is the tagline “Unite the Seven.” The two most prevalent theories are that the tagline refers to “The Seven Seas,” which Aquaman rules over, or the seven members of theJustice League, Superman (Henry Cavill), Batman (Ben Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), The Flash (Ezra Miller), Cyborg (Ray Fisher), Green Lantern (who has yet to be cast) and of course Aquaman himself. While we’ll have to wait and see what Unite the Seven truly means,Badass Digesthas a new piece of info that offers some insight into Aquaman’s role inBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which claims he only has a glorified cameo.
The site reports that, in the shooting script, Aquaman only shows up two times, during a survey of metahumans conducted by Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg) and at the very end, when Batman recruits him to join theJustice League. The site claims that, if this tagline refers to Aquaman uniting the Seven Seas, it will likely happen in the standaloneAquamanmovie, since there is no room for this plot inBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. It is possible that different story elements were added into the script as shooting progressed, meaningBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justicecould help set up Aquaman’s story about uniting the seven undersea kingdoms, but it likely won’t be fleshed out entirely until the standalone Aquaman movie.
As for “Unite the Seven” referring to the seven members of theJustice League, the site notes that only five other members show up in the script aside from Aquaman, and they are Superman (Henry Cavill), Batman (Ben Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), The Flash (Ezra Miller) and Cyborg (Ray Fisher), with Green Lantern absent from the initial team line-up. Of course, theGreen Lantern Rebootisn’t hitting theaters until 2020, and there is still plenty of time to cast Green Lantern and possibly add him in to the metahuman survey and the end scene during reshoots. As you may recall,Tyrese Gibsonhas been campaigning lately to play the Jon Stewart version of Green Lantern, but it isn’t known when Warner Bros. will make a final casting decision.
It’s also possible that “Unite the Seven” could refer to the Seven Relics of Atlantis, seven items that Arthur Curry and his trusted allies have hid in the sea, one of which is Aquaman’s trident.
