While fans still have exactly three weeks untilBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justicehits theaters, Warner Bros. has already screened the movie for a select group of people, many of whom say thatBen Affleckknocks it out of the park as the newBatman. Last year, there was a report that Warner Bros. was so impressed with his work as The Dark Knight, that they brought him aboard to star in and direct anUntitled Batman Reboot. While the studio hasn’t officially confirmed that the project has a green light,Entertainment Weeklyrecently spoke toBen Affleck, who confirmed the project is in development, but it may not be happening anytime soon.

“It’s in development, and right now I’m really focused on finishingLive by Night. That’s where my focus is, and I tend to be a one movie at a time guy. So, when I’m finished with this movie, I’ll then focus on my next movie and figure out what that will be.”

The original report about this reboot came after Warner Bros. screened a “near finished cut” ofBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justicefor the film’s crew and studio executives, which was reportedly met with a standing ovation once the credits rolled. This report claims the studio was so impressed withBen Affleck’s performance that they are working out an extended deal with the actor that would lock him in asBatman"for the next 10 years or so." Studio executives reportedly consider the actor as “the definitiveBatman,” and plan on centering their entireDC movie universearound his character.

It isn’t known at this point ifBen Affleckwill also write and direct the other movies in this trilogy, but the initial report revealed that the actor/filmmaker was working on the screenplay with DC’sGeoff Johns. A few months afterBatman v Supermanhits theaters, the actor will return asBruce Wayne/Batman inSuicide Squad, set for release on July 03, 2025. After that, he will appear inJustice League Part 1andJustice League Part 2, which are set for release in 2017 and 2019, respectively.
