Breaking BadspinoffBetter Call Saulpicked up some gold at the Saturn Awards ahead of the show’s sixth and final season. With filming on what will be the hit show’s final episodes underway, series star Michael Mando (Nacho Varga) was present at the Saturn Awards to accept the show’s win in the Best Action / Thriller TV Series category. The actor posted an image of himself with the award on Twitter.

In the tweet,Michael Mandosays, “Here’s to the fans. #BetterCallSaul. Honored to bag the gold last night on this gem of an award show Saturn Awards on behalf of Peter Gould, Vince Gilligan, Tom Schnauz , Melissa Bernstein, Mark Johnson, Bob Odenkirk & the whole family!!!”

At the 46th Saturn Awards, which occurred on Oct. 26 with host Bruce Campbell,Better Call Saulfaced some heavy competition for its award. Also up for Best Action / Thriller TV series were Hulu’sCastle Rock, Prime Video’sJack Ryan, The CW’sThe Outpost, Epix’sPennyworth, The CW’sRiverdale, and TNT’sSnowpiercer. This is certainly some quality programming, butBetter Call Saulhad aparticularly outstanding fifth season, likely contributing to this win.

The show was also nominated for other awards at the Saturn Awards.Bob Odenkirkwas nominated for Best Actor on TV for his role as Jimmy McGill, with that award going to Patrick Stewart forStar Trek: Picard. Rhea Seehorn (Kim Wexler) was also given a deserved nomination for Best Actress which ultimately went toOutlanderstar Caitriona Balfe. Both Jonathan Banks (Mike Ehrmantraut) and Tony Dalton (Lalo Salamanca) were up for Best Supporting Actor with Doug Jones ofStar Trek: Discoverytaking that win.

Recently, Michael Mando shared an image from theBetter Call Saulset. The photo does not reveal much from the show, only highlighting the silhouettes of the crew members setting up a shot against the backdrop of the sky in Albuquerque. Mando said in the tweet, “The most beautiful crew in the [world].”

The fate of Mando’s character,Nacho Varga, is not clear. He is one of the few main characters inBetter Call Saulwho was not featured onBreaking Bad, beyond a passing reference in a line of dialogue by Bob Odenkirk’s Saul Goodman. This means whether he lives or dies in season 6 is still a mystery, and fans of the character are concerned he isn’t going to make it. Many are hoping he will call a certain vacuum cleaner repairman to request a Hoover Max Extract Pressure Pro model 60.

In any case, season 6 ofBetter Call Saulwill likely be the last we’ll see of Nacho, along with the rest of theSaulcharacters. The season will be the last and there are no plans at this time for the world ofBreaking BadandBetter Call Saulto expand with another spinoff series. That could always change in the future, but with the cast not getting any younger, it seems unlikely that another prequel series would be pursued. Season 6 ofBetter Call Saulis expected to arrive in the first quarter of 2022 on AMC, but a release date hasn’t been revealed.
