Last week,Malcolm in the MiddlestarFrankie Munizrevealed on his Twitter page that he wants to see areunionseries happen, which he would callMalcolm in the Mid-Life Crisis. The actor admitted he was just “ga(u)ging interest” in a reunion, but it seems that he isn’t the only one who would like to bring the series back. While speaking toET Canada(viaDigital Spy),Bryan Cranstonalso said he would like to come back as the dysfunctional family patriarch, Hal. Here’s what the actor had to say about a reunion.
“It’s been 10 years since we went off the air and it’d be fun to pick up that guy’s clothes again and be fun and sweet and adorable and hapless and clueless and afraid of everything.”
As we mentioned last week, it doesn’t seem that there are any official discussions about bringing this show back, but, ifBryan Cranstonis interested in returning, it may be enough to get Fox or another network to develop arevivalseries. Fox has already brought back its beloved series24with the event series24: Live Another Daylast year. The network is also bringingThe X-Filesback to the small screen with an untitled series slated to debut in January.
Malcolm in the Middleran for six seasons between 2000 and 2006, spanning 151 episodes. The sitcom centered on Frankie Muniz' title character, who tries to survive amidst his chaotic family, including his father Hal (Bryan Cranston), mother Lois (Jane Kaczmarek) and brothers Francis (Christopher Masterson), Reese (Justin Berfield) and Dewey (Erik Per Sullivan). WhileBryan Cranstondid say he would be interested in coming back for a newMalcolm in the Middleseries, he isn’t quite interested in returning to theBreaking Badworld quite yet.
“I don’t have a yearning to go back into (Breaking Bad’s) world because we just covered it completely, I think.”
Ironically, back in 2013, shortly after theBreaking Badfinale aired, an"alternate ending"surfaced whereBryan Cranston’s Hal woke up from a vivid dream, describing his drug-dealing ways as Walter White to his TV wife Jane Kaczmarek, which connectedMalcolm in the MiddletoBreaking Badin a humorous fashion. It isn’t known if Jane Kaczmarek, Christopher Masterson, Justin Berfield and Erik Per Sullivan would be willing to reprise their roles for this potential revival. Both Justin Berfield and Erik Per Sullivan have stepped away from acting altogether since the show went off the air, so it isn’t known if they would be interested in coming back.
