The saga ofCoyote Vs. Acmeis one that could almost make a movie in itself, and the fallout is still being felt by those who worked on the currently unreleased film. While attending the Sundance Film Festival,Lana Condor, who was set to star in the Warner Bros. Discovery release alongside John Cena and Will Forte, was asked byScreenRantwhether she believed the film would ever be released or if it has been scrapped for good.

From the response given by Condor, it is easy to see whyeveryone is still talking aboutCoyote vs. Acme, as the cancelation is something that is staying with those who made the movie, and the more it is discussed, the more fans really want to see it get some kind of release. Cordor said:

“I have zero update. That’s probably definitely the most devastating thing in my career thus far. Yeah, I loved that movie so, so much. I had the honor of working with incredible artists for it, and we built the most amazing worlds and we got to work with phenomenal puppeteers and CGI and just all these things, and it was so nostalgic and I loved the story through and through and we had a blast making it. And I am genuinely heartbroken that there’s a world that no one will ever see it for tax purposes, I think. That’s so, so sad. And when I got the news, they invited me to a funeral screening, which is the saddest thing ever.”

Why Did ‘Coyote vs. Acme’ Get Scrapped?

There is seemingly no plausible reason whyCoyote vs. Acmewas shelved by Warner Bros. Discovery, at least not according to the comments made by those who were both part of the movie, or those who saw a cut of it. While there are some “sources” that claimed the film was just not that good and did not deserve to be released - everyone just remember that Warner Bros. Discovery allowedVelmato have two seasons and a special, but are not willing to take a risk on this – Condor suggests that this is not her view of the movie. She continued:

“The film was predominantly myself, Will Forte and John Cena. We were kind of the only humans. Everything else was all green screen and everything, so I didn’t really know what it was going to look like. So when I went to the funeral screening, I thought to myself, ‘Maybe the movie isn’t good and maybe I was wrong.’ Watched the film, and I personally think it was my best work I’ve ever done. And I think it was funny and kind and put a real positive message. That was really, truly devastating for me, for me, and for everyone.”

John Cena Says He Has to Believe Coyote vs. Acme Was Scrapped for the ‘Right Reasons’

John Cena is disappointed by Warner Bros.’s decision to cancel Coyote vs. Acme, but wants to have hope in the creative process.

For now,Coyote vs. Acmeis not going to be seen by anyone other than those who have been privileged enough to see one of its limited number of private screenings. However, Warner Bros. Discovery has constantly denied reports that they took a tax write-off against the film, meaning that it could still be possible for the movie to be released if they choose to do so. Whether they will or not is almost as hard to work out as why it was shelved in the first place.
