Daredevil: Born Againmay have been a triumphant return for Matt Murdock to the MCU in some ways, but when it comes to the viewership of the series, new data reveals it was something of a disappointment compared to other Marvel Studios series such asAgatha All Along, Echo, and even the heavily criticizedSecret Invasion. According to Nielsen’s data,Daredevil: Born Again’sdebut failed to land a place on the Top 10 chart for the week of its release, making it the first Marvel Studios TV show to do so.
Daredevil: Born Againdebuted with a two-episode on March 4, and according to Disney, the double header pulled in over 7.5 million views in the first five days on Disney+. While it was the biggest premiere of 2025 at that time on the platform, it fell short ofLokiSeason 2’s debut of 10.9 million over three days, andAgatha All Along’s9.3 million over its first week. Additionally,Secret Invasionlanded a place on Nielsen’s Top 10 chart when it dropped in 2023, andEchoalso landed a place on the chart when it was released in January 2024.

‘Daredevil: Born Again’: 9 Scenes Taken Straight From the Comics
Certain scenes and storylines in Disney+’s ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ were lifted directly from the comics, almost shot-for-shot.
‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Is Already Renewed for Two More Seasons
Although this kind of failure would be enough to see the plug being pulled on many TV shows, the MCU is not bound to the usual rules of Hollywood. Though a movie may fail or a TV show may be panned, there is a bigger plan at play that can allow characters to skip from one sub-franchise to another even if their own projects don’t take off as planned.
Daredevil: Born Againwas one of Marvel’s most anticipated shows of 2025, and also one of the few projects actually set to be released on Disney+ this year. Although reviews for the series did not hit the highs of the Netflix show, it still delivered a strong 87% Tomatometer score and 80% Popcornmeter rating. This was incredibly positive compared to some of the other Marvel projects released in the last couple of years.

However, even before the first episode ofDaredevil: Born Againwas released, it was clear that there was a long game in play for the show, and Season 2 began filming around the same time it made its Disney+ debut. Not only that, but the show is now beinglooked at as one of several shows that could become an annual, continuous seriesrather than being one of the many one-and-done offerings that litter Disney+.
Season 2 has already been hyped as having “some of the best writing” ever done in the franchise, and now that it has finally landed its story and place in the MCU, the problems that plagued the show’s early development are now well and truly in the past. The addition of severalreturning characters, such as Jessica Jones in Season 2, could also help boost interest in the series, but we will have to wait until next year to see ifDaredevil: Born Againcan break into the Nielsen chart next time around.
