Daredevil: Born Againbrought Season 1 to a violent and thrilling conclusion with plenty of teases about what is to come next in the franchise. However, for all the brutal violence and animosity on-screen, one star of the series has shed light on how production on the series is made “safe” thanks to the “gem of a human” that isCharlie Cox.

‘Daredevil’ Star Ayelet Zurer Talks ‘Born Again’ & Understanding Kingpin

Ayelet Zurer plays Vanessa Marianna-Fisk in ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ and discusses the series, its setting, and her bond with Vincent D’Onofrio.

Speaking toMovieWeb’s George Edelman,Born AgainstarMargarita Levieva, who plays Heather Glenn, hyped up the man who has brought Daredevil to life incredibly for over a decade. Working with Cox has been a fantastic pleasure for the actress, who said that a production’s tone is set by its lead, and there could be no one better. She said:

Charlie Cox in Daredevil: Born Again

“Charlie’s fantastic. He’s just a gem of a human and an actor, and it’s just such a dream to work with him. I don’t say that lightly. I mean, it’s just the way he was before we started work, the way he was during work, how he’s such a great lead. Whoever is the lead, they set the tone for the production. When they walk on set, the way they show up, the way they interact with the crew, with the other cast. When you have someone like Charlie, who’s just so keen on making sure that everyone feels seen and heard and comfortable, and then you can really play, and you can be present, and you can be explorative because it feels safe.”

‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Has Brought R-Rated Marvel Content Back to Disney+

For too many years, the MCU has been synonymous with clean, (semi) wholesome family fun, with bright and flashy superheroes battling alien invasions and saving the world one CGI-laden adventure at a time. Now things are shifting in a new direction, and while we will still be getting that continuous thread of Captain Americas, Spider-Mans and Avengers movies,Daredevil: Born Againhas proven beyond doubt that there is a large audience out there for something a lot darker.

From blazing gunfights, to skull-crushing moments that hark back to the most brutal moments ofGame of Thrones– you know what we mean –Born Againhas not held back its violence as many believed it would when the series fell under the Disney banner. Now, Season 2 has been set up as an all-out war bettween Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk, and Cox’s Daredevil army, whichmany now believe will grow to include some familiar faces from his old Defenders days.

In addition to this, the finale ofDaredevil: Born Againsets upJon Bernthal’s Punisher special, which is being worked on as an unexpected addition to the franchise. Having seemingly been out of favor just a few years ago, Marvel Studios has worked its magic to weave together the endless number of loose threads that have been left hanging at various other studios over the last 20 years. With Fox X-Men stars set to return forAvengers: Doomsday, and Netflix’s Marvel Television shows back in the fold, who says Marvel fatigue is even a thing?
