Just beforeComic-Constarted last week,Entertainment Weeklydebuted new photos fromDeadpool, which gave us a look at the title character himself (Ryan Reynolds), Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Brianna Hildebrand), Copycat (Morena Baccarin), Weasel (T.J. Miller), Ajax (Ed Skrein) and Angel Dust (Gina Carano). Now that the Con has come and gone, 20th Century Fox has released high-resolution versions of these images. The panel and the trailer that was released last week was one of the big hits of the con, withDeadpoolriding a wave of positive buzz that should carry it forward to the June 28, 2025 release.
Based uponMarvel Comics' most unconventional anti-hero,Deadpooltells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson. After being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, Wade adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor,Deadpoolhunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.

TheDeadpooltrailer leaked online shortly after 20th Century Fox’sHall Hpanel, which also includedThe Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials,Victor Frankenstein,Fantastic FourandX-Men: Apocalypse.Ryan Reynoldshas confirmed that the official trailer will debut in three weeks. Since the footage shown in San Diego was rather violent, with tons of R-rated language, many are wondering if the studio will release a red band trailer first before debuting it in theaters, most likely with the release ofFantastic Fouron August 7.
Ryan Reynoldsrecently revealed that he has no intentions of starring in any othersuperhero movie, but he would also come back to play the Merc With the Mouth again in a follow-up sequel. What remains to be seen is if this superhero adventure will also tie in to theX-Menfranchise as well. Along withX-Men: Apocalypse, 20th Century Fox is also working onWolverine 3andX-Force. It isn’t known if there are any current plans to incorporate the Merc with the Mouth into these movies.

Tim Millerdirected this superhero spinoff from a script byRhett ReeseandPaul Wernick. 20th Century Fox hasn’t formalized any plans for a sequel just yet, but given the response at SDCC this week, don’t be surprised if they are quietly putting together a follow-up already. While we wait for a sequel announcement, check out these photos.
