Based uponMarvel Comics' most unconventional anti-hero,Deadpooltells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.
Ryan Reynoldsreprises the title character after appearing as Wade Wilson in the 2009 spinoffX-Men Origins: Wolverine. He stars alongsideT.J. Milleras Weasel,Gina Caranoas Angel Dust,Brianna Hildebrandas Negasonic Teenage Warhead,Morena Baccarinas Copycat andEd Skreinas the villain Ajax. Deadpool also dusts off mutant Colossus, though original actorDaniel Cudmorewill not be back to reprise hisX-Mencharacter. Tim Miller directs the Marvel superhero adventure from an R rated script byZombielandwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick.
Ryan Reynoldsrecently claimed that he will not star in any othersuperhero movieever again. But he wants to come back as the Merc With the Mouth in as many Deadpool sequels as possible. What remains to be seen is if this superhero adventure will also tie in to theX-Menfranchise, especially since it features Negasonic arriving in her Charles Xavier School for Gifted Mutants uniform. Along withX-Men: Apocalypse, 20th Century Fox is also working onWolverine 3andX-Force. It isn’t known if there are any current plans to incorporate the Merc with the Mouth into these movies, butRyan Reynoldshas a dream of joining a Cabel-led X-Force Team.
Many suspect that a Red Band Deadpool trailer is set to drop sometime this week, before the all-ages green band trailer debuts in theaters withFantastic Fouron August 7. The Red Band Deadpool trailer released at Comic-Con is full of bloody violence and gore, and has plenty ofR ratedlanguage, which is why we won’t get to see it attached to Marvel’s first family of superheroes. If and when a Red Band trailer for the movie does arrives, it isn’t known if any new footage will be included. But that is entirely possible.
