‘Die Alone’ Boasts a Score of 80% on Rotten Tomatoes

Die Alonedebuted in theaters back in September 2024 and was met with largely positive reviews from critics. The zombie outing achieved a hugely impressive score of 80% on Rotten Tomatoes (alongside a more mixed 66% from audiences on the Popcornmeter), with criticsheaping praise on Carrie-Anne Moss’ performanceand a fresher look on the horror genre trope.

The Guardian’s Leslie Felperin said, “Moss has one of cinema’s great poker faces, an impenetrability enhanced by those spectacularly sculpted cheekbones, so she’s well cast here as an enigma wrapped in a tattered parka.” Shawn Van Horn of Collider, meanwhile, added, “This isn’t thescariest zombie movieyou’ll ever see, and the second act begins to drag as it readies itself for the finale, but if you want a highly original one that makes you feel,Die Aloneis flesh worth sinking your teeth into.”

Die Alonewas met with a rave review from Rich Cross of Starburst, who awarded the movie a near-perfect 4/5, concluding, “Writer-director Lowell Dean is an auteur with an eye for the twisted and macabre, andDie Alonemixes moments of explosive and bloody violence with periods of reflective restraint.” And, finally, Jeffrey M. Anderson of Common Sense Media applaudedDie Alonefor offering “just enough interesting new angles to make it worth a look for horror hounds.”

Frank Grillo has become an action movie staple over the years following his scene-stealing performance in 2014’sThe Purge: Anarchy. The actor went on to leadThe Purge: Election Yearin 2016, and is all set toreturn for a further sequel in the future. Grillo will next reprise his DCU role of Rick Flag Sr. in James Gunn’sSuperman, and will star alongside Harvey Keitel, Peter Stormare and Tyrese Gibson in the upcoming action thrillerHard Matter.

Carrie-Anne Moss, meanwhile, reprized one of her most iconic action roles, that of Trinity alongside Keanu Reeves’ Neo in 2021’sThe Matrix Resurrections. She will next join forces with action and Hollywood icon Arnold Schwarzenegger in thesecond season of Netflix’sFUBAR.
