Way back in 2013, just one year after Disney purchased LucasFilm for over $4 billion, the studio announced it was planning a massiveStar WarsLand theme park expansion for both its Orlando and California resorts. While we’ve seen a few glimpses of this attraction over the past few years, including a sneak peek presented byHarrison Fordduring the ABC specialThe Wonderful World of Disney: Disneyland 60earlier this year, there is still much we don’t know. Today we have a new rumor claiming thatStar WarsLand will allow fans to live out their dreams of actually using “The Force.”
Making Star Warsreveals that the Disneyland version ofStar Wars Land, which isn’t slated to open until 2019, will feature a number of “Force Opportunities” placed throughout the park. The site claims that not every fan will get to experience “using the Force,” though. These “Force Opportunities” will feature some sort of an object, such as a ship or a large rock, where fans will go up and attempt to lift them by using the Force. Some experiences will allow many random fans to use the force all day, while others will be limited to just once or twice a day.
The site compared this rumored exhibit to King Arthur’s Sword atDisneyland’s Fantasy Land. While several kids will try to pull the sword from the stone all day long, only one lucky child will be able to pull it out. Naturally, these plans haven’t been confirmed quite yet, but during ABC’sThe Wonderful World of Disney: Disneyland 60, the narrator of a special video presentation offered some new details aboutStar Wars Land. Take a look at the narration below.
“Imagine stepping aboard theMillennium Falconand actually piloting the fastest ship in the galaxy, banking left, right, firing the laser cannons, you’re in complete control. Imagine finding yourself in the middle of a battle between the Resistance and theFirst Orderin a race against time. The park will transport visitors to a never-before-seen planet with two signature attractions, including a customized secret mission on the Millennium Falcon and an epicStar Wars ridethat puts guests in the middle of a climactic battle. Each attraction will feature newStar Warsenhancements and experiences.
