Whovians, it’s nearly time to board the TARDIS once again. In anticipation of the new season, debuting next month, the official BBCDoctor WhoInstagram account unveiled the titles of every episode. And in doing so, they also revealed some intriguing background graphics that could give us some clues about the Doctor’s (Ncuti Gatwa) upcoming adventures.

The BBC further revealed the writers and directors of each episode, with showrunner Russell T. Davies penning five of the eight installments. The other writers involved include Pete McTighe, Inua Ellams, and Juno Dawson. Of the title, writer, and director announcements, Davies said:

A Sea Devil in Doctor Who

“Excitement mounts as the new season gets closer, and there’s nothing a ‘Doctor Who’ fan loves more than facts! So here’s a whole bunch of them, with titles and writers, everything you need to get ready for transmission!”

Ncuti Gatwa won’t be present in the limited series, which instead focuses on UNIT.

So what are the episodes? And what about the subsequent clues and revelations? Well, the titles include: “The Robot Revolution,” “Lux,” “The Well,” “Lucky Day,” The Story and The Engine," “The Interstellar Song Contest,” “Wish World,” and “The Reality War.” As for the visuals teased in the Instagram reel, the biggest reveal is that “Lucky Day” will somehow involve Ruby Sunday (Millie Gibson), the Doctor’s former companion whose story isn’t quite complete. Several newspaper clips surround an image of Ruby, one with the headline “Are U.N.I.T. Keeping Aliens in Their HQ?” and another mentions something about global warming. Are these clippings random, or do they subtly tell us what the episode will be about?

The second outing for Gatwa as the Doctor will see the Time Lord team up with Belinda Chandra (Varada Sethu), about whom little is known. However, we do know the overarching season will involve getting Belinda back home to Earth. Guest stars for the season include Jemma Redgrave, who returns as U.N.I.T. leader Kate Lethbridge-Stewart, and Alan Cumming, portraying a cartoon villain called Mr. Ring-a-Ding.

Despite Rumors of Trouble, ‘Doctor Who’ Seems to be Going Strong

The fanfare surrounding the release of the episode titles is a welcome change from the rather lackluster wayfans learned of the new season’s premiere date— during a random rugby match mostWhofans probably weren’t watching. The seeming indifference of the BBC’s announcement fueled rumors thatDoctor Whowas set to be axed indefinitely after the second Disney+ era season aired (a rumor the network has vehemently denied).

Something else fans have to look forward to: a trip to Skaro, the Dalek’s home planet, in all its glory. The Doctor has only ever visited the planet after it was ravaged by war, which means the Skaro we’ll see this season is either pre-war, or the Daleks have found a way to rebuild their society. Either way, it will be fun to see Gatwa’s iteration of the Doctor face off against the series' most recognizable foes, especially since the actor hasexpressed a lifelong dreamof doing so.

Will there be any other surprises unveiled by the BBC before “The Robot Revolution” debuts in April? Season 2 (or 15, if you’re counting from the series' first revitalization in 2005) will premiere on the BBC in the U.K. and on Disney+ everywhere else on July 04, 2025. Subsequent episodes will air weekly on Saturdays.
