Ghostbusters 2020has officially started production. Jason Reitman shared a new picture of the deteriorating Ecto-1 and asked fans if they were ready to “get rolling.“Ghostbustersfans are definitely ready to get rolling since the sequel has been talked about so much lately. Reitman is taking over the directing duties this time around from his father and original star Dan Aykroyd loves the script that the director wrote. It’s only a matter of time before the set photos start to come in, hopefully reuniting Bill Murray, Ernie Hudson, and Aykroyd.
Finn Wolfhard recently spoke a little aboutGhostbusters 2020and revealed they had already started production. TheStranger Thingsstar was asked whether or not he and his on-screen mom, Carrie Coon, had time to build rapport before shooting began. Wolfhard responded by saying, “We’re spending more time now, because we just started, but I love her so much. She’s been amazing so far.” Taking this information with Jason Reitman’s photo of the dilapidatedEcto-1gives us everything we need to know.
When it came time to audition forGhostbusters 2020,Finn Wolfhard did not think he would get the partfor reasonsStranger Thingsfans will probably understand. He originally didn’t think it was going to happen because he had already dressed like a Ghostbuster on the hit show. Wolfhard thought, “Jason Reitman is probably not even going to look at my tape because I’ve already done it inStranger Things.” However, it looks like everything worked out in the end for the young actor, who seems to be just about everywhere these days.
As for howGhostbusters 2020is going to be, that is unclear at this time. Jason Reitman and crew are keeping everything under wraps. With that being said, Reitman has teased the use of old and unused footage from the originalGhostbustersmovie, strongly hintingwe’ll get to see Harold Ramis involvedin some way. Sigourney Weaver has confirmed she will be returning and also said the rest of the original cast was returning with her. Additionally, Annie Potts has confirmed she too will be back. Ernie Hudson recently revealed he does not yet have a deal in place to take part in the highly anticipated sequel.
Now that production has finally started onGhostbusters 2020, we should get some more updates about the cast and new additions. Ernie Hudson, Dan Aykroyd, and Bill Murray will more than likely all be on board, but a lot of hardcore fans are hoping they’ll be able topersuade Rick Moranis to come back. The actor has taken a long break from starring in any big screen projects and declined to take part in theGhostbusters2016 reboot. Jason Reitman might be able to pull it off with the story he has crafted. You can check out the production start announcement forGhostbusters 2020below, thanks toJason Reitman’s Instagramaccount.
