Last week, we revealed that history is being made as production on Universal Pictures’Fast and Furious 8continues in Cuba. The sequel is the first major Hollywood production toshoot in Cubain the past 50 years, after the U.S. lifted the longstanding trade embargo and eased travel restrictions into the country. With production still under way, a new behind-the-scenes video has arrived giving fans a glimpse at what is happenig during this history portion of the production.

The video comes direct from the officialFast & Furious Facebookpage, and features starsVin Diesel,Michelle Rodriguezalong with directorF. Gary Gray, who all express their excitement for getting to visit all these beautiful people and places in Cuba. We also see reactions from several Cuban locals as classic cars are used for astreet racingscene. Hundreds of extras cheer on the drivers as they tear through the streets. We don’t know anything about how these scenes fit within the entire story ofFast & Furious 8, but hopefully we’ll learn more as production continues.

Fast & Furious 8will shoot the bulk of its scenes in New York City and Atlanta, though, like the previous movies, this sequel will truly be another international affair. Production already took place earlier this year in Iceland, where the crew pulled off what is believed to be thelargest explosionin the country’s history. Unfortunately, a tragic accident also happened in Iceland, when an iceberg prop was sent flying by gale force winds, striking and killing a local horse. Filming is also expected to take place in Russia onFast & Furious 8, but we don’t have any details about that shoot quite yet.

Cuba is quickly becoming a hot spot for American productions after the trade embargo lifted. Last year,Conan O’Brienfilmed in Cuba for his TBS late night talk showConan, becoming the first American talk show to appear in Cuba since the U.S. trade embargo began in 1962. Last year, an indie film entitledPapa Hemingway, which hit theaters last weekend, shot on the island, and Showtime’sHouse of Liesannounced in January that they plan to shoot part of their fifth season in the country.

As forFast & Furious 8, no plot details have been released at this time, but it is believed that many of the main stars fromFast 7will return, includingKurt Russellas Mr. Nobody.Charlize Theronis playing the main villain, withScott Eastwoodas the new lead replacingPaul Walker, thoughEastwood’s character has not been revealed and it isn’t known if this will be another member ofBrian O’Conner’s family.Dwayne JohnsonandTyrese Gibsonare all expected to return, along withJason Stathamas bad guy Deckard Shaw.
