After two long years, the wait is finally over.Apple TV+’s sci-fi masterpieceFoundationreturns to streaming this Friday with an epic Season 3, and based on what’s been said about it so far, the series is just as good as you remember it to be. Starring the likes of Jared Harris, Lee Pace, Lou Llobell and Leah Harvey, the new season of the Isaac Asimov adaptation hit Rotten Tomatoes with a 100% rating from critics, signifying that if you’ve been on the fence about checking this one out, now’s just as good a time as any to jump in and start from the beginning.
Called a “stunning, sweeping and cerebral space odyssey” by James Dyer from Empire Magazine,Foundationchronicles a band of exiles on their monumental journey to save humanity and rebuild civilization amid the fall of the Galactic Empire. While it’s certainly a series that’s filled with heavy themesthat appeal to hard sci-fi loversand can sometimes make your brain hurt, Cheryl Eddy from io9 notes that creators David S. Goyer and Josh Friedman have a keen sense of when to give your noggin a bit of a rest:

“It’s wildly entertaining—thanks to its writing, layered world-building, and performances—and while it’s a show that deals with very serious themes, Foundation also knows when to lighten up.”

These sci-fi TV shows bring the imaginative worlds created by authors to a larger audience.
WhileFoundationtakes liberties with the source material, it’s still just as good as Asimov’s award-winning saga, and updates things to appeal to a contemporary audience. After all, the stories that make up the epic series were first published in 1941, and a lot has changed since then.Foundationhighlights those changes by giving characters like Harris' Hariton “Hari” Seldon a richer backstory, which adds more of an emotional core to Apple’s sci-fi favorite than was present in Asimov’s work.

‘Foundation’ Is Like ‘Game of Thrones’ In Space
Also touted as “one of the best shows of the year and a must-watch show for all sci-fi fans” by Jamie Parker from CBR, the first episode ofFoundationSeason 3 hits Apple TV+ on Friday, July 11. The remaining nine episodes drop weekly thereafter until its conclusion on September 12, and for Collider’s Therese Lacson, it’s been more than worth the two-year wait for Foundation’s return:
“After three seasons, it’s fair to say that the Apple TV+ series from David S. Goyer and Josh Friedman has done the impossible in creating something that is not only engaging but holds to the soul of what Asimov’s story is all about.”

“If you’ve been on the ride thus far, there’s no reason to jump off now,” noted Jean Henegan from Pop Culture Maniacs, while John DeVore from AV Club added that “the stakes are high this season,” but that shouldn’t come as a surprise to fans, as he also points out that “Foundation has no chill setting, which can be viewed as the show’s weakness and also its strength.” Meanwhile, Ryan Britt from Inverse compared it the one ofthe most divisive fantasy series in recent memory, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing:
“If there are any holdouts on whether or not Foundation is the true Game of Thrones in space, Season 3 will convince you that this epic show deserves an audience bigger than just people clutching their Isaac Asimov paperbacks to their chests.”

You can check outFoundationSeason 3 when the sci-fi juggernaut returns to Apple TV+ this Friday, or you can start streaming the first two seasons now if you’ve never had the pleasure of seeing it.
