Earlier today, Fox unveiled their full2017-2018 lineup, with the network also unveiling the first trailer for one of the new shows, their X-Men series entitledThe Gifted. After the network’s upfront presentation in New York City today, the network also unveiled trailers for four more upcoming shows, the new fall comediesThe OrvilleandGhosted, along with the mid-season comedyLA to Vegasand the midseason dramaThe Resident. It remains unclear when the network will unveil the trailer for its midseason drama series9-1-1, which comes fromAmerican Horror Storycreator Ryan Murphy.
These trailers debuted onFox’s YouTube channel, which offer our first look at these new programs.The Orville, which hails from creator/starSeth MacFarlane, who plays Captain Ed Mercer, will debut Thursday nights at 9 PM this fall, followed byGotham, which moves from Monday nights to Tuesday nights this fall. This one-hour series is set 400 years in the future that follows the adventures of the U.S.S. Orville, a mid-level exploratory vessel. Its crew, both human and alien, faces the wonders and dangers of outer space, while also dealing with the familiar, often humorous problems of regular people in a workplace… even though some of those people are from other planets, and the workplace is a faster-than-light spaceship. The cast also includes Adrianne Palicki as Ed Mercer’s ex-wife Kelly Grayson,, Scott Grimes as Ed’s best friend Gordon Molloy, Penny Johnson Jerald as Dr. Claire Finn, Peter Macon as Bortus, Mark Jackson as Isaac, J. Lee as John Lamarr, Halston Sage as Alara Kitan and Norm Macdonald as the voice of Yaphit.
Ghostedwill debut in the middle of the network’s Sunday comedy lineup, airing at 8:30 PM ET, between long-running hitsThe SimpsonsandFamily Guy, The series centers on Leroy Wright (Craig Robinson), a cynical skeptic and former missing persons detective, who thinks that “aliens” are a big ole bunch of B.S. and that people who believe in them are certifiably nuts. He gets teamed up with Max Jennifer (Adam Scott), a genius “true believer” in the paranormal who’s convinced his wife was abducted by aliens. At low points in their lives, both Leroy and Max are recruited by Captain Ava Laffrey (Ally Walker,Colony,Sons of Anarchy), a take-no-prisoners, former Air Force test pilot and head of the Bureau Underground, a secret government organization investigating paranormal cases. This heroic group of underdogs will look into “unexplained” activity in Los Angeles that often leads them to scary, thrilling and hilarious places, as they attempt to uncover the truth and keep the earth rotating on its axis for at least one more day.
The midseason comedyLA to Vegascomes from the comedy team of Will Ferrell and Adam McKay, who serve as executive producers alongside series creator Lon Zimmet and executive producer Steve Levitan, who directed the pilot episode. The series follows an airline crew on Jackpot Airlines, a budget carrier whose junket flight from LA to Vegas and back again, is filled with dreamers looking for that big score. The cast includes Kim Matula as Ronnie, a long-suffering flight attendant who tries to keep her cool, whether she’s dealing with a bi-polar bride-to-be or the dead body in Row 13. Her life becomes even more complicated when she develops a “location-ship” with Colin (Ed Weeks,The Mindy Project), a regular passenger and an economics professor, whose son and soon-to-be ex-wife live in Vegas.Dylan McDermottalso stars as Captain Dave, the narcissistic pilot whose fighter-pilot dreams never quite worked out, with Nathan Lee Graham playing Bernard, the always-positive career flight attendant who thinks there’s no flight more magical than the LA-to-Vegas. The cast is rounded out by Peter Stormare as Artem, the genial professional gambler who serves as the plane’s resident (but unofficial) bookie; and Olivia Macklin as Nichole, the sweet-natured, part-time stripper who’s a lot savvier than people realize.
The final new series isThe Resident, which centers on three doctors at different stages of their careers and a dedicated young nurse. This provocative new medical drama rips back the curtain to reveal the truth of what really happens, both good and bad, in hospitals across the country. The series centers on Dr. Conrad Hawkins (Matt Czuchry), one of the best doctors at Chastain Park Memorial Hospital. Charming, arrogant and only a third-year resident, Conrad does everything in the most unconventional way possible. Along with treating patients, Conrad believes it is his job to burst the illusions of first-year residents, like Dr. Devon Pravesh (Manish Dayal), and turn them into real-life doctors. The cast also includes Bruce Greenwood as Dr. Randolph Bell, Shaunette Renée Wilson as Dr. Mina Okafor andEmily VanCampas Nicolette Nevin.
