Game of Thronesis coming to end this Sunday and HBO has released the final promotional images. Fans are usually given a decent amount, but this time, the network has given us just two images, which are ripped directly from the 30-second trailer from last Sunday. With that being said, there is some speculation that one of the shots is a direct callback to an event from season 2. There areSPOILERSforGame of Thronesseason 8 below, so read ahead at your own risk.

The mainGame of Thronesimage that stands out is what we were shown in the aforementioned trailer whereDaenerysis addressing her followers amongst the wreckage. She looks like a dictator looking out at what she created. One of the big concerns from fans is over the fact that she basically turned into the Mad Queen rather quickly. However, since the trailer for the final episode was released on Sunday, there has been speculation that the visual is a callback to season 2.

Game of Thrones Final Episode

Back inGame of Thronesseason 2, Daenerys has a vision in the House of the Undying where she is searching for her dragons. The scene features a ruinedIron Throneroom with white stuff falling from everywhere, which is more than likely snow. However, it sure looks a lot like the ashes of King’s Landing from the latest divisive episode. Is it possible showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss knew about the end of the series all the way back in season 2? Probably not since they say they didn’t hear about George R.R. Martin’s plans for the end until around season 3 or 4.

Whatever the case may be, the imagery from theGame of Thrones series finale trailerand now image, sure seems a lot like the vision Daenerys saw all of those years ago. There is a lot of theory and speculation going on at the moment, but there is a decent amount of attention being paid to the season 2 vision, meaning Daenerys knew, or at least had a hint, that she was going to turn into theMad Queen, drunk with power and rage. It’s a lot better than a Starbucks cup or an unfinished CGI hand.

Game of Thrones Series End

As for the second image from the finalGame of Thronesepisode, it features Tyrion looking like he has seen some better days. HBO is keeping everything they can under wraps, but the episode will more than likely leak early this Sunday, since that has been a common occurrence this season. Also, hardcore fans are more than likely going to be pretty angry since that is also a very common occurrence at the moment. Regardless, this is it. There aren’t going to be any teaser images or trailers to look forward to and dissect, so enjoy it while you can. You can check out the two newGame of Thronesfinal episode images below, thanks toHBO.
