Ginny & Georgiawill be back for season 2 onNetflix. The show’s freshman season, which consisted of ten episodes, premiered on the streamer in late February. Less than two months later, Netflix has gone ahead and officially renewed the show for a second season which will also feature ten overall episodes.

Fisher and creator Sarah Lampert said in a joint statement. “We’re especially grateful to Brianne and Toni, who set the highest bar every step of the way. We can’t wait to return to Wellsbury for season 2.”
Antonia Gentry is also celebrating the news with her fans. Taking to Twitter, the young actress wrote, “so… season 2 tho…. y’all hear about that?”
According to Netflix, which does not release traditional viewership data like otherstreamers,Ginny & Georgiawas watched in more than 52 million households. The company also says that the series made its top 10 lists in 87 countries around the world, ranking in the No. 1 spot in the United States and 45 other countries.Ginny & Georgiaalso opened at the top of the Nielsen streaming charts following the first week of its release.
Ginny & Georgiawas created by Sarah Lampert and follows free-spirited Georgia (Brianne Howey) and her two kids, Ginny (Antonia Gentry) and Austin (Diesel La Torraca), when themove north in search of a fresh startbut find that the road to new beginnings can be bumpy. The series also stars Jennifer Robertson, Felix Mallard, Sara Waisglass, Scott Porter, and Raymond Ablack.
Claire Welland produces the series, with Fisher and Lampert executive producing alongside Anya Adams, Jeff Tahler, Jenny Daly, Dan March, Holly Hines, Lance Samuela, Daniel Iron, and Armand Leob.
The success ofGinny & Georgiadid not come without its controversy. On social media, the series has been criticized for jokes deemed to bemisogynisticalong with unflattering lines about famous pop singers like Lady Gaga and Lana Del Ray. In March, singer Taylor Swift put the series on blast for a character on the show joking, “What do you care? You go through men faster than Taylor Swift.” The phrase “Respect Taylor Swift” was trending on Twitter as fans review bombed the series on various platforms, including Rotten Tomatoes and IMDb.
“HeyGinny & Georgia, 2010 called and it wants its lazy, deeply sexist joke back,” Swift said on Twitter. “How about we stop degrading hard working women by defining this horse sh*t as FuNnY. Also, @netflix after Miss Americana this outfit doesn’t look cute on you Happy Women’s History Month I guess.”
Regardless of the controversy,Ginny & Georgiaseason 2 is officially a go. No release date has yet been set, but fans can watch the first season in its entirety now on Netflix.
