WhileGame of Thronesfans still have several months left until the final season airs on HBO, fans will be able to get into the Thrones spirit at Major League Baseball ballparks all across the country this summer.

Major League Baseballannounced today that they will be continuing its partnership with the HBO hit series withGame of ThronesNights at select MLB ballparks this summer. While no specifics about these events have been released yet, this will be the second year the hit fantasy series and MLB have teamed up.

Last year, theGame of ThronesNights kicked off with cross-promotional activities that engaged with thousands of fans in over 20 Major League Baseball ballparks. Many of these activities integrated theiconic Game of Thrones theme songby Ramin Djawadi into the game, along with special mascot bobbleheads, video board games, branded food and drink concession stands, t-shirts, ball caps and evenGame of Thronescostume contests took place at these events, along with new Snapchat filters fans could use to take their pictures with. There would also be the iconic Iron Throne present at the games.

Like last year, fans will be encouraged to tweet and share photos throughout social media with the hashtag #GoTMLB, and also through the MLB Ballpark mobile application. Last year, San Francisco Giants manager Bruce Bochy even conducted his post-game press interviews whilesitting on the Iron Throne. While many teams gave away GoT-themed bobbleheads of its players or coaches, the St. Louis Cardinals gave away “October is Coming” t-shirts, while the Pittsburgh Pirates gave away special glass mugs for their giveaway last year.

There is no indication yet if HBO plans on using any of theseGame of Thronesevents at MLB ballparks to debut any actual footage from the highly-anticipated, and highly-secretive,eighth and final season. The final season, which will span just six episodes, has been in production since September, with filming not expected to wrap until sometime this summer. One of these GoT Nights could be the perfect opportunity to debut some new footage in front of a massive audience, before debuting it online, but there is no indication as to whether or not that will happen.

There was another interesting connection between Major League Baseball andGame of Throneslast season, when New York Mets pitcher Noah Syndergaard had a cameo in thefourth episode of Season 7, The Spoils of War. The pitcher, who stands 6'6" and is nicknamed “Thor” for his long blonde hair, played a Lannister general who is seen throwing a spear at one of the Dothraki riders during the epic battle scene where Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) and her dragons, with the help of the Dothraki, attack the Lannister army. More updates on theseGame of Thronesnights will be posted at MLB.com/GameOfThrones in the near future, but until then, take a look at this video from the Major League Baseball YouTube page, which puts an MLB ballpark twist on the iconicGame of Thronesopening credits scene.
