Kit Connor, star of the Netflix seriesHeartstopper, says he was recently “forced” to come out as bisexual. The actor plays Nick Nelson opposite Joe Locke, who plays Charlie Spring in the series. The show follows their two characters as they discover their unlikely friendship might be something more as they navigate school and young love in the series.
Connor recently took to hisTwitteraccount, where he expressed his frustration toward the discussion of his sexuality following his appearance onHeartstopper. Some social media members have accused the actor of “queerbaiting” after Connor was pictured holding hands withA Cuban Girl’s Guide to Tea and Tomorrowco-star Maia Reficco.

“back for a minute. i’m bi. congrats for forcing an 18 year old to out himself. i think some of you missed the point of the show. bye”
Clearly, the actor was frustrated with recent allegations and drama surrounding himself and his character. Connor recently took time away from Twitter earlier last month, as the actor was seemingly bullied on social media. His previous tweet from Sept. 12 reads, “this is a silly app. bit bored of it now, deleting twitter :)” Connor’s statement can be found below.
