Hocus Pocus 2Cast & Crew Are Already Thinking About Further Sequels
While it may have taken many years forHocus Pocus 2to materialize, audiences may not be waiting quite as long for a third follow-up,with director Anne Fletcher recently revealing that the upcoming sequel will leave the door open for more. “I have definitely kept it wide open for any sequel,” she said. “Now it’s really up to them if they want to do it. I can’t say anything other than yes, it is left open. Will they do it? I don’t know, they haven’t even talked about it, that I can be honest with you.”
Not only is the filmmaker on board, but star Bette Midler is also equally eager to stand front-and-center in her own franchise.
“I don’t know. I’m envious of other actors who have franchises, and I was hoping for a sequel to First Wives Club, but we never got that," Midler said. “After 30 years with no sequel to Hocus Pocus, I’ve always been envious of people who get to do their favorite character more than once. The fact that we got to do this finally, after 30 years of promoting the idea, I’m glad we got to do it. I’d love to have a franchise — especially a character I love playing. If there was a third one, of course I’d sign on, but I don’t know how. I can’t imagine what the story would be, but I love Winifred, Sarah, Mary, and our relationship. It’s good for women. We stick together through hell and high water, but we do cause mayhem, and not many women cause that much mayhem!”
Directed by Anne Fletcher and written by Jen D’Angelo,Hocus Pocus 2is scheduled for aDisney+release on August 22, 2025.
