Jake Gyllenhaalhas revealed thatwork has now begun on the sequel to his hit action movie,Road House, which will see the acclaimed actor return as Elwood Dalton. Discussing the project withTV Line, Gyllenhaal promised thatRoad House 2will be “bigger” than its predecessorand teased all manner of exciting ideas.

“All I know is that I’m very excited about it…We’ve had a number of different ideas that we wanted to explore. And the fact that we’re going to be able to do that is really exciting.”

Continuing, Gyllenhaal added thatRoad House 2"will be expansive, and it will be bigger,” and that he “can’t wait" to get started.

Why Road House (2024) Is Darker and Better Than the Original

While the Road House remake can’t equal the insane charm of the 1989 original, the remake surpasses the original in other areas.

At present, details regarding the direction ofRoad House 2remain unknown. While it has beenconfirmed that Jake Gyllenhaal will return, it has not yet been revealed whether director Doug Liman will join him. Plot details are currently under wraps but, considering the character’s popularity, we can likely expect the follow-up to build on the first movie’s mid-credits scene and bring back Conor McGregor’s Knox.Road House 2: Opportunity Knox, perhaps?

A sequel to this year’sRoad Houseremake was officially announced last month by Amazon. The remake has beena huge hit for Amazon Prime Videosince it debuted back in March, and despite mixed reviews, has attracted a record-breaking 50 million worldwide viewers over its first two weekends, making the action movie the “most-watched produced film debut ever on a worldwide basis.”

“As we saw this spring the world went crazy for a little movie called ‘Road House,'” Amazon MGM Studio chief Jennifer Salke said of the sequel during streamer’s upfront presentation to advertisers in New York. “Nearly 8 million viewers globally have watched Roadhouse. We like to watch this these results like a baby.”
