During a recent interview with CBS Mornings, James Gunn confirmed that each movie and series in the DCU will be its own entity, both in terms of story and filmmaking style. The writer/director and co-president of DC Studios broached the subject by bringing upJames Watkins’Clayfacemovie,which has been described as a pure horror film. “Clayfaceis a totally different thing​​​​​​,” Gunn began. “Although it’s in the same universe, it’s a complete horror film, and that’s one of the things we want to do.“Clayfaceis currently slated to release on June 13, 2025.

Following that, the DCU is sticking with the intergalactic theme asLanternswill drop on HBO and HBO Max.The series sees Nathan Fillion’s Guy Gardner return, while introducing Hal Jordan (Kyle Chandler) and John Stewart (Aaron Pierre) to the franchise. Fans are praying that the series can finally do justice to the Green Lanterns in live-action, following the terrible 2011 film starring Ryan Reynolds. Rumors suggest thatLanternshas already wrapped production. The series premieres sometime in 2026.
