Now flying under the new simple title ofSuperman, the DCU’s live-action debut movie has been getting a lot of attention recently thanks toJames Gunnsharing a new look at the Man of Steel’s famous “S” logo and announcing that unexpected name change. It seems, though, that some people are a little too eager to get a better look atDavid Corenswet suited up as the incomparable Kryptonian, and a recent “set image” of Corenswet reportedly in full costume has now been debunked by Gunn in a brutal deconstruction.

An image began circulating online that appeared to be a surprisingly clear and unobstructed view of the movie’s lead being photographed by two other men on a pretty basic-looking set. While the image was good enough to look authentic at a first glance, as Gunn proved, a closer inspection reveals that things are not all they seem in the AI-generated image that fooled many on social media. Responding to a question about the image on hisThreads account, Gunn said:

Rachel Brosnahan in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and artwork of David Corenswet as Superman by DCU Updates.

“Let’s see. Can the man on the left take a photo holding an amorphous black blob while looking through an eyeball on the front of his cap? Can the man on the right’s torso grow out of his right hip and can he be stupid enough to wear his pants with the drawstring in the back? Are David Corenswet’s hands made of wax without any bones or veins? And might Superman’s trunks be knitted with yarn? Ask yourself these questions and I’m certain you’ll be able to answer the question on your own.”

Superman Continues to Grow its Cast

Although the DCU’s kick-off movie has now simplified its title to justSuperman, which in itself is a rarity in a time when almost every film comes with a colon, the ensemble cast of the production just continues to expand.

From its leads of David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan, though Nicholas Hoult, Skyler Gisondo, Edi Gathegi, Nathan Fillion, Anthony Carrigan, and Isabela Merced, the film is certainly not going to have many scenes that do not pack in a lot of faces. This week, that list of stars continued to grow with another addition to the impressive roster Gunn has compiled, with Wendell Pierce being announced in the role of Perry White, Clark Kent’s editor-in-chief at The Daily Planet.
