Action movie iconJean-Claude Van Dammereturns to one of his best-loved franchises inKickboxerreboot sequel,Kickboxer: Armageddon, and we now have some idea regarding the release of what’s sure to be another martial arts B-movie masterpiece.Kickboxer: Armageddonwill find Van Damme joining forces with fellow action heroes Scott Adkins (Boyka: Undisputed, John Wick: Chapter 4), Alain Moussi (Kickboxer: Vengeance, Jiu Jitsu), andJohn Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellumstar and martial arts icon Mark Dacascos, it has now been confirmed, with the action outing having now been picked up for distribution by Warner Bros. Home Entertainment in the U.S. and Canada.
Disappointingly,Kickboxer: Armageddondoes not yet have a release date, but now that distribution has been settled, those details will surely be revealed soon. Filmmaker Dimitri Logothetis, who first began breathing new life into the cult classic action franchisewith 2016’sKickboxer: Vengeance, will once again take the helm forKickboxer: Armageddon, working from a script he co-wrote with Jim McGrath. Kickboxer: Armageddon centers on Kurt (Moussi) seeking to track down his wife’s killers. Through the Thai underground fight world, he meets Cesare (Adkins), a martial arts master who leads a sadistic cult, with Kurt soon finding himself in the fight of his life.

Based on the 1980s action franchise which began way, way back in 1989 with the firstKickboxer,which stars Jean-Claude Van Damme as Kurt Sloane a young manout for revenge, theKickboxerfranchise is now made up of several sequels starring different action movie leads. The recent reboot trilogy began with 2016’sKickboxer: Vengeance. Led by actor, stuntman, and martial artist Alain Moussi as Sloane, the reboot brings back Van Damme as a different character, Master Durand, who teaches Sloane the ways of the warrior. Featuring the likes of Dave Bautista, Gina Carano, and Georges St-Pierre, the next installment, 2018’sKickboxer: Retaliationadds even more fan-favorite names to the roster, includingGame of Thronesstar Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson,Highlander’sChristopher Lambert,and Mike Tyson.
