With her final performance as Katniss Everdeen inThe Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2just over one month away,Jennifer Lawrencehas signed on to star in an untitled mystery project with directorDarren Aronofsky.Varietyreports that this project doesn’t have a distributor lined up yet, but the filmmaker has been reaching out to actors, in hopes of getting production started this spring. The actress is currently shooting the sci-fi dramaPassengers, but she will have plenty of time to shoot theJennifer Lawrence/Darren Aronofsky Projectnext year, now that she has completed work on bothThe Hunger GamesandX-Menfranchises, which wraps up with next year’sX-Men: Apocalypse.

Jennifer Lawrencehas a number of projects in various stages of development, but nothing has been given the green light to start production yet. We reported last month that the actress was eyeingRed Sparrow, which would re-team her withHunger GamesdirectorFrancis Lawrence, and she is also teaming up with comedianAmy Schumerfor anUntitled Comedywhere they will play sisters. We also reported in March that she is attached to star in Warner Bros.' war memoir adaptationIt’s What I Do, which hasSteven Spielbergset to direct.

This new project will be directorDarren Aronofsky’s next movie, withVarietyreporting that he has now backed out of Sony’sUntitled Evel Knievel Biopic, which hasChanning Tatumset to star. We reported last month that the filmmaker had signed on to direct, but he has now moved on. No plot details were given for this new film, which doesn’t have a distributor in place yet, although it may end up landing at New Regency, where the director has a first-look deal.

Earlier this year,Darren Aronofskybrought a script he wrote to New Regency, centering on a boy whose drawings come to life, but the project was shelved after budgetary disputes arose. He then turned his attention to writing this untitled project, in hopes of making it his next directorial endeavor. The filmmaker most recently directed Paramount’s big-budget Biblical thrillerNoah, which took in $365 million worldwide from a $125 million budget.

The Hollywood Reporteralso revealed thatJennifer Lawrencehas dropped out ofThe Rosie Project, just as she became attached toDarren Aronofsky’s untitled film.Richard Linklateris directingThe Rosie Project, an adaptation ofGraeme Simison’s book, which follows a socially-awkward genetics professor, who believes he has come up with the perfect scientific survey to determine a person’s perfect mate. His plans go awry when he meets Rosie Jarman, who he falls for despite possessing all of the qualities he shouldn’t be looking for.

Jennifer Lawrencewill next be seen inThe Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2, in theaters November 20, and thenJoy, where she stars alongsideBradley CooperandRobert De Niro, which hits theaters onChristmas Day.
