Jensen Acklesis best known for playing Dean Winchester inSupernaturalfor fifteen seasons, and is soon to be seen taking on the role of Soldier Boy in Amazon’s ultra-violent comic book seriesThe Boys, and it looks like he is planning to stick with comic book adaptations for a little while after revealing he is working on a secret DC project, but would not even go so far as to say whether it is a movie or a TV series. With superhero properties being big business, it is not surprising for Ackles to want to continue down that route.
Before becoming synonymous withSupernatural, Ackles previously dipped into the world of DC with some of his older roles. He appeared as Jason Teague inSmallville’s fourth season, the love inters of Lana Lang, and he also provided a voice over for the character of Jason Todd in the animated movieBatman: Under The Red Hood. He most recently took on voicing the Dark Knight himself inBatman: The Long Halloween.Having seemingly not been able to shake off comic book roles for too long, it was always just a matter of time before he announced a new one.

Joining Michael Rosenbaum on theInside of You podcast, Ackles was asked which of Marvel or DC’s projects he would like to be a part of in future, to which he revealed the news that his is potentially already working on one. With the new movie or show only in the early stages, the actor doesn’t want to get too far ahead of himself by going to too many details about it. He said:
“There is a DC property that I’m currently developing right now with Warner Bros. and some other good partners that I’ve got my fingers crossed for. But, again, I’m not going to talk about it because [I] don’t want to jinx it.”
Jensen Ackles Could Be Working On One Of Many Projects for DC Currently In Development
While Ackles’s immediate project isWinchester, the prequel series toSupernaturalthat caused a stir when it was announced for not having the actor’s series co-star Jared Padalecki involved and also seemingly not even having told him that it was in development, but there are a number of DC projects that have been hinted at that he could be a part of.
There are plenty of series ideas being passed around when it comes to DC, with Warner Bros. eager to push out as much new comic-based content as possible. There are currently a number of HBO Max series being discussed, such as shows based on the characters of John Constantine, Madame Xanadu, Green Lantern, as well as the twoThe Batmanspin-offs focussing on Colin Farrell’s The Penguin and the Gotham Police Department and more projects fromPeacemaker’s James Gunn which are yet to be announced.
Additionally, Ackles has a good relationship with the folks at The CW, withWinchesteralready having a home there and as the actor has had previous experience in the world ofBatman, theirGotham Knightsseries could have been a possible contender for Ackles’s attention. However, that series has already announced most of its working team, so it seems unlikely he would be so cagey on the subject if that was the project. With very little else to go on, fans will have to wait until the project is good to go before Ackles will be ready to divulge a little more information.
