Jeremy Rennertook to social media on New Year’s Day to celebrate his second “rebirthday"following a terrible snowplow accident in early 2023 that left him with multiple serious injuries. He shared an image from his hospital bed two years ago and thanked everyone, from his nephew and neighbors who waited for first responders, to the surgeons and medical teams who helped with his treatment and recovery.
The incident happened on New Year’s Day 2023 at Renner’s home in Reno, Nevada. Using a snowplow, Renner was trying to help a family member whose car was stuck in the snow. While speaking with the family member,the snowplow moved forward. When he tried to jump back in, Renner was pulled under the 14,330-pound vehicle, which crushed the actor.He did end up saving his nephew.
Among his many serious injuries, Renner had multiple broken ribs along with a broken right clavicle, shoulder, left tibia, ankle, and more. He explained that his neighbors and nephew rushed to his aid and waited for first responders to arrive.
“All my heart goes out to my beautiful, brave nephew and the angels (my neighbors) who jumped to my aidand endured the chaos for 45 long minutes on the icy asphalt,” he wrote in his recent social media post. He added, “I’m so sorry [for] all the haunting images I imprinted on you all.”
Over the past two years, Renner used his social media platforms to keep fans up-to-date on his recovery, which wasnothing short of miraculous. Within four months of the accident,he shared a video of himselfusing a walker to move around, followed by therapy sessions, and finallywalking unaided.
The actor said his “gratitude list is very long” as he thanked everyone who was part of his recovery:
“I send out my love, respect, and gratitude for the army of people that it took to put me back together again. Thank you to each and every nurse, doctor, first responder…I literally owe you my life.”
Renner also thanked his family, friends, and fans for their support:
“With the amount of love and prayers that flooded in from you all around the world (needing each and everyone of them), my family never leaving my side , with some divine intervention, a bit of luck and a whole lot of miracles …I stand strong again. More Open. More Loved. More Connected. And f*ing BLESSED to take my next step, to take MY NEXT BREATH.”
