Ever since it was first announced, fans have wanted to know whenWalter WhiteandJesse Pinkmanwill return in theBreaking BadspinoffBetter Call Saul. A smash hit with audiences and critics alike,Better Call Saulreturned two weeks ago forSeason 2. And while there hasn’t been a Walt or Jesse sighting yet, that may change in the very near future.

During a recentRedditAMA (ask me anything) session,Aaron Paul, who played Walt’s reluctant partner Jesse, was asked the question he’s been asked a million times already. When will Pinkman return? This time, though, he gave an intriguing answer that hints we may see him sooner than we thought. He boldly states the following.

“Yeah of course! I’m such a huge fan ofBetter Call Saul, and of course everyone behind the show. So, who knows?… maybe I already shot it? … it might be airing this season?  I don’t know. Well, actually, I do know, but you’ll have to watch and see. But yeah, I’d absolutely be opened to it and we have discussed the possibility.”

This is not a confirmation. Sure. But it’s as close as we’ve ever gotten out of eitherAaron PaulorBryan Cranston. CreatorVince Gilliganhas always said that any Breaking Bad character could show up onBetter Call Saulat any minute. But it must be organic and right for the story. He’s not just going to plug in cameos for the fun aspect of us pointing and saying, ‘Hey, there’s Jesse’.

This year’s season premiereSwitchopened with Saul Goodman struggling to survive a mundane life after the events that took place in Breaking Bad. He’s still working at theCinnabonin Omaha, Nebraska. And he’s afraid of having any contact with the police. Will this narrative thread continue? And is this where we’ll likely see Jesse when he returns? Or will Pinkman play a part in the ongoing prequel narrative that is the backbone of the series? We don’t know yet. How do you feel about Jesse Pinkman returning? Is it unnecessary at this point?
