Marvel’s Jessica Jonesis the second of fourNetflix original series', all of which are epiclive-action adventuresspread out over the course of the next few years. It comes afterMarvel’s Daredevil, which launched April 10th. Jessica Jones will then be followed byMarvel’s Luke CageandMarvel’s Iron Fistsometime in 2016. This is all leading up to the teaming of the main characters in Marvel’sThe Defenders, to premiere only on Netflix sometime in 2018.Marvel’s Daredevilis returning forSeason 2in spring 2016, and it promises to introduce Marvel comic book characters The Punisher and Elektra into the MCU.
In November, we reported that Carol Danvers, a.k.a.Captain Marvelwas almost introduced on the series. In Marvel’s Alias comic book series, Jessica Jones andCaptain Marvelwere best friends. So it made a lot of since to bring her in for this one hour adventure series. But that was long before the show became tied to the Hell’s Kitchen quadology that also consists ofMarvel’s Daredevil,Marvel’s Luke CageandMarvel’s Iron Fist, all of which will culminate inThe Defendersminiseries.
Even though the series has been renewed, it still seems unlikey to have Danvers make an appearance, since theCaptain Marvelis set for release in 2019. But who knows. IfMarvel’s Jessica Jonescontinues to be the hit everyone thinks it is at the moment, and more seasons are ordered,Captain Marvelcould still possibly show up as a tie in to the movie.
