The jury verdict from theJohnny Deppvs.Amber Hearddefamation trial has cleared the former’s name in the eyes of many, but not everyone is convinced the formerPirates of the Caribbeanstar did not physically abuse his ex-wife.Kathy Griffin, who had been public with her support for Heard before the trial, has since weighed in on the outcome of the jury trial. Griffin not only made it clear that she believes Heard, she also had some scathing remarks to say about Depp and his physical appearance.
The comments came from Griffin as a guest onJust Ask the Question with Brian Karem. Speaking about the verdict and the support Depp has been receiving, Griffin went on to take several shots at Depp along with his fans. As Griffin puts it:
“You know what I find funny? This is because you have to find the humor in everything. I love these Johnny Depp fans, ‘stans’ as the kids call them, the stans, these Johnny Depp stans that are talking about this trial, and yet they refuse to show a picture of what he looks like now, which is a big, orange, fat, bloated booze bag. He looks like Donald Trump with a ponytail. And so, they keep sticking up for him: ‘Amber’s taking down Johnny, he’s so gorgeous and dreamy.’ I’m like, okay, he talks like Kanye when Kanye had his jaw wired. He has a fake accent like when Madonna turned British, so, who are we kidding here? He learned (faking his accent) from his idol Keith Richards. It’s like, how can people not see through such an obvious affectation? And such an obvious whole thing, like how he had his digital warriors outside. This is a middle-aged man. This is pathetic.”

Kathy Griffin Says She Believes Amber Heard
Kathy Griffin makes it clear that she has no doubts about any of Amber Heard’s stories of domestic abuse suffered by Johnny Depp. For Griffin, she seems to back up the assertion made by Heard in court that Depp was rumored to have assaulted ex-girlfriend Kate Moss in the 1990s and suggests there were similar rumors about Winona Ryder, another ex.
However, Moss testified in the U.S. trial that the rumors weren’t true andhas since supported Deppby watching him perform on stage. Ryder had also written a statement for Depp’s previous UK trial describing him as very loving and denying that he had ever been physically abusive with her. Griffin explains this away by suggesting that Moss and Ryder might have only been going along with Depp to avoid facing a potential defamation lawsuit and public scrutiny in the way that has happened with Heard.
“I am friends with Amber Heard. I completely believe her… It’s actually really disturbing to me as a woman and a lifelong feminist. Also, just so you know, I mean, there’s stories that have been going around Hollywood about him being an abuser, since Kate Moss was the first time we heard about it, and then Winona Ryder, when they were dating, and he had the Winona (tattoo) forever… But I will say, of course I cannot speak for these women, but I have to tell you, I wonder if they just changed their tune because nobody wants to get Amber Heard-ed… It’s very clear to me, defamation is something I know a little bit about, and I think it’s been interesting to have watched it go down in a way that has been illuminating, but I think it’s definitely going to set women back.”
There are other celebrities who have offered support to Heard, including Meghan McCain, Amy Schumer, and David Krumholtz, but it’s safe to say that they are in the minority. Heard has appealed the jury’s decision as well so the legal battle isn’t over just yet.
