In the annals of Christmas-themed movies,Home Aloneis arguably one of the best. It’s family-friendly, funny, and provides heartwarming messages of faith, parental bonds, and the resilience of youth. Just don’t tellKieran Culkinthat, at least not his younger self, because when he first saw it,he had no idea what the heck was going on – and he’s in the movie!
Culkinstarred as Fuller inHome Alonewhen he was eight, the same age his brother’s character of Kevin McCallister was when he staved off a home invasion by Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern after being left behind while everyonetraipsed off to Paris for the holidays. In fact, Fuller was part of the reason Kevin was forgotten about in the first place, because he didn’t want to bunk with his bed-wetting cousin, which in turn led to the big blow up with his mom, after which he was sent to the attic for the night. Way to go, Kieran. It’s all your fault for not being potty-trained.

Kieran Culkin’s Best Movies and TV Shows, Ranked
As we await Succession Season 4, let’s take a look at Kieran Culkin’s best movies and TV shows.
Now 42, the middlest Culkin brother recently revealed to theLos Angeles Timesthat despite his brief appearance in the holiday classic,he had no idea what the movie was about when he first saw it. All he was able to surmise in his kid-brain was that it was funny, and for him, that – and the few instructions he was given on how to play Fuller – was enough.

“I had no idea what that movie was about when I saw it, and I was in it. I was at the premiere, and I was dying laughing. It was the funniest thing I had ever seen. I had no idea what the movie was about. Drink this Coke, wear the glasses, say the thing that you memorized, look cute and go home.”
Kieran Culkin Thought ‘Home Alone’ Was Buzz’s Story
As if that wasn’t hilarious enough, Culkin also admitted that the whole time he was filmingHome Alone, he thought it was a story about Buzz, and not Kevin. Expertly portrayed by Devin Ratray, Buzz, of course, was Kevin’s older brother and chief antagonist before the Wet Bandits showed up,who would regularly bully his younger sibling.
TheSuccessionstar said that between takes,Ratray managed to convince him that he was the main focus, and not Macaulay Culkin. It wasn’t until he saw the movie that he realized the truth, and was able to have a good laugh about it all.

“Devin Ratray, the guy who plays Buzz, lied to me and told me the movie was all about him, and I believed him. And then when I saw it, the movie’s cracking me up, and I go, ‘Mac was on set all the time. That makes sense the movie would be about him.'”
In addition toHome Aloneand his award-winning performance in HBO’sSuccession, Culkin can now be seenin the dramedyA Real Painalongside Jesse Eisenberg, which the pair star in as two Jewish cousins who go on a journey of self discovery as they tour Poland to honor their late grandmother. It’s now playing in select theaters from Searchlight Pictures, but look for it to stream on Hulu in the near future.
