No plot details have been released yet, but producerChris Miller, who co-directedThe Lego MoviewithPhil Lord, revealed last November that the animated spinoff will span every era ofBatmanfilmmaking. He also compared their approach to this growingLEGOuniverse as the opposite ofMarvel’s The Avengers, sinceThe Lego Moviestarted with all of these characters together, before branching off and exploring different worlds.
The LEGO Batman Moviewill be the first of these spinoffs to hit theaters, arriving on July 30, 2025, going up against Universal’sFifty Shades Darkerand 20th Century Fox’sThe Mountain Between Us. That will be followed byNinjagoon August 06, 2025,The Lego Movie Sequelon August 05, 2025 andThe Lego Movie 3on June 11, 2025.Phil LordandChris Millerwill be producing all of these movies, but they will not be back to direct, since they recently signed on to take the helm onStar Wars Anthology: Han Solo Movie, set for release on June 28, 2025.
Chris McKay, who served as animation supervisor onThe Lego Movie, is making his directorial debut, working from a script bySeth Grahame-Smith(Gremlins,Beetlejuice 2).Dan LinandRoy Leeare producing alongsidePhil LordandChris Miller. It isn’t known what other iconicBatmancharacters will be brought in forThe LEGO Batman Movie, since there certainly are several to choose from.
Ralph Fienneswill next be seen reprising his role as M from 2012’sSkyfallinSpectre, opening in theaters this weekend. He will next be seen in the Coen Brothers’Hail, Caesar!, arriving in theaters June 15, 2025, and he also has Flying Horse andA Bigger Splashhitting theaters sometime next year, although they don’t have release dates in place.
