We knew this was coming. Marvel is officially shutteringMarvel TV, its small screen division which saw a major shakeup earlier this year. Marvel Television will no longer be making any new TV series beyond what is already being produced. And those current shows will be folded into Marvel Studios, home to the current MCU.

With the shuttering of Marvel TV also comes the elimination of many jobs at this particular division. Senior vice president of current programming and production Karim Zreik will be moving his remaining team into the Marvel Studios group. Zreik will continue leading the current projects in production.Marvel TV head Jeph Loebis staying on throughout the transition.

Many expected this move would happen, with MCU curator Kevin Feige confirmed to be producing a number of big budget live-action TV shows forDisney+that tie directly into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This fall, Feige was promoted to the position of Chief Creative Officer for all of Marvel, covering movies, TV, animation and comics. It has been the thought that Jeph Loeb would be moving away from Marvel, but it looks like he’ll be hanging on for a little bit longer during the transition period.

Hulu’sHelstromis the only Marvel TV live-action show currently in development. Hulu had also ordered aGhost Riderlive-action series starring Gabriel Luna, which would have been a spinoff ofAgents of SHIELD. But that show was canceled this past September.

On the animated side of things,Marvel is currently working on four TV showsfor Hulu that includeHoward the Duck,Hit Monkey,M.O.D.O.K.andTigra & Dazzler, the later of which lost its creative team earlier this week. The shows will debut separately, then crossover in one epic miniseries calledThe Offenders. A search for a newTigra & Dazzlercreative team is ongoing.

It was previously announced that the Marvel Hulu seriesThe Runawayswill be ending with season 3. AndAgents of SHIELDis coming to an end after season 7 this spring, airing on ABC. Not counting any of the Disney+ shows, all of the other Marvel live-action series spread across multiple platforms have been canceled.

Kevin Feigeand Walt Disney Pictures are currently working on quite a few Disney+ live-action TV shows that includeThe Falcon and The Winter Soldier,Loki,WandaVision,Hawkeye,Ms. Marvel,She-HulkandMoon Knight, which is quite an ambitious slate. They also have the animated seriesWhat Ifcoming our way soon, which is an animated take on alternate reality scenarios within the MCU.

Marvel Television and Home & Family Entertainment executives starting at the Vice President level who are not connected to Karim Zreik are getting the boot, according to sources close to the shut down. Creative director of Marvel Themed Entertainment Brian Crosby will no longer be working on Marvel projects tied to Disney Parks, but he isn’t leaving the company. Family entertainment chief Cort Lane is also getting the boot. He works for Disney’s corporate-franchises, parks and consumer-products arm, along with having ties to Hasbro and Lego. He will be staying on long enough to oversee Marvel TV’s first preschool seriesMarvel’s Spidey and His Amazing Friends. This news comes fromVariety.
