TheMonster Huntermovie has wrapped principal photography. Milla Jovovich made the announcement on social media and took time to thank the cast and crew for all of their hard work to bring the video game adaptation to life. Jovovich has been keeping fans updated on social media since filming began back in October, but there are some who are bit skeptical about the movie and how it will compare to the source material as seen in some of her pictures from the set.
In her lengthy social media post,Milla Jovovichadmits that her experience onMonster Hunterwas, “definitely one of the most challenging films I’ve ever made, which says a lot.” The actress went on to say that making the movie has been an “unforgettable experience” and that she was able to meet some great people while also exploring “unearthly” areas. When it comes down to the challenge of makingMonster Hunter, Jovovich reveals that two military consultants on the project were there to “kick her butt” and keep her inspired to give herCaptain Artemischaracter the edge that she needs.
Now thatprincipal photographyhas wrapped onMonster Hunter, director Paul W.S. Anderson will more than likely take a break for the holidays before launching the post-production phase where a lot of the heavy lifting will take place. We’re going to see some pretty big monsters when all of the CGI magic is complete, and fans of the original video game series are hoping that the looks of the monsters will be true to the source material. However, Anderson has already started to tweak some of the storyline, which has some fans worried.
Paul W.S. Anderson took some liberties while making theResident Evilmovies, and that choice was not looked at in a positive light by both fans and critics. So, when it was revealed that Anderson had added a sci-fi element to theMonster Huntermovie, fans began to talk. The game is afantasy RPGthat allows players to accumulate goods to get better weapons and take on bigger and crazier monsters. Anderson has taken modern soldiers and transported them into theMonster Hunteruniverse, so it’s going to take some time for fans to come around to this adaptation.
It’s easy to criticize before the movie has been released, but we haven’t even seen aMonster Huntertrailer at this point. While theResident Evil franchisedeviated quite a bit from the source material, it was still able to be a big earner at the box office, soMonster Huntercould end up in the same boat. Regardless of that, Milla Jovovich is clearly excited about the work that she and the rest of the cast and crew did on the movie, so hopefully some of the excitement rubs off on fans.
