Back in March, just beforeMortal Kombat Xdebuted, it was announced that the monstrousPredatorfrom the 1987 action classic of the same name, will be available for fans to play in a download pack.Jason Voorheesand Tanya are two new downloadable characters that fans can already play. As fans get ready for thePredatorpack,Mortal KombatcreatorEd Boonhas released new posters through hisTwitterpage, featuring the title creature himself along with originalPredatorcharacter Dillon, portrayed byCarl Weathersin the first movie.
While fans will have to wait a few more weeks before the download packs are available in July, footage from thevideo game, which has since been removed, offers new details about the expansion. Each of thesePredatorcharacters have three different variations, which have their own unique designs, with one of thePredator’s fighting without a mask. ThePredatorwill also be able to hurl his discs at opponents, set off mines, use his wrist-blades, fire his shoulder cannon, and even initiate a self-destruct sequence, which destroys everything around the killing machine, except him.
One of thePredator’s “fatality” moves has also been leaked, showing this creature lifting his victim up by the wrist blade, stabbed through the torso, while he stabs one of the discs into the victim’s head, which detaches as the corpse falls to the ground. Even if a fatality isn’t performed, the character automatically rips out the victim’s spine, a move taken directly from the original movie. Along with Predator, there will be four new skins, usingCarl Weathers' Dillon for Jax, an Infrared Scorpion, which uses thePredator’s vision mode, commando for Johnny Cage, inspired byArnold Schwarzenegger’sPredatorcostume, and Scorpion’s “klassic” skin. There is also a little nod to the original movie, where, if users play as Cage and Jax, Cage says, “You son of a b****,” as they both lock arms, just after the stage is selected.
