Superhero fans were in for quite the surprise tonight during the first ever Marvel and NetflixComic-Conpanel, which, according to the schedule, was only set to feature the stars ofMarvel’s Luke Cage.Mike Colter,Alfre Woodard,Mahershala Ali,Theo Rossi,Simone Missick,Frank Whaleyand showrunner and Executive ProducerCheo Hodari Cokerwere all scheduled to appear, but the Ballroom 20 guests were treated to a surprise appearance byJon Bernthal(The Punisher), a special video message fromFinn Jonesalong with the first trailer forIron Fistand the surprise renewal ofDaredevilSeason 3. Fans were also shown the new trailer forLuke Cage, along with a sizzle reel that included scenes fromDaredevil,Jessica Jonesand even more new footage fromLuke Cage
Of course,Luke Cagea.k.a.Power Man, will soon team up withDaredevil,Jessica JonesandIron Fistto formThe Defendersin a new miniseries where all of these heroes will face their biggest threat yet. Sadly, this sizzle reel only shows footage from each of these heroes' individual shows, since production hasn’t started onThe Defendersquite yet, and Netflix hasn’t revealed when exactly the show will debut. The streaming service did revealThe Defenderslogo during tonight’s panel, but it seems that’s all we’ll get for now, along with this sizzle reel fromYouTube

Rosario Dawsonwill reprise her role as Claire Temple, a.k.a. Night Nurse inLuke Cage, along withMahershala Alias Cottonmouth,Theo Rossias Sonny,Alfre Woodardas Mariah Dillard,Simone Missickas Misty Knight andSonia Bragaas Claire Temple’s mother. Back in May, we also learned about another new casting addition,Erik LaRay Harvey, who has been confirmed to play the villainousDiamondback. Photos from the set revealed a street fight between Diamondback and the Power Man himself, but we don’t know much about how Diamondback is introduced.
