Warner Bros. unveiled new footage of the two-part Western epic fromKevin Costner,Horizon: An American Saga, at the recent CinemaCon event. The films are set in the mid-1800s, chronicling the United States' westward expansion.
Horizon centers around fictional characters and takes place in pre- and post-Civil War America, and details the exploration of the American West. Depicting a twelve-year span, the movies feature an ensemble cast portraying various characters and their experiences pioneering into new territory from their homes.

Kevin Costnerrevealed that the narrative spans a 12-year period, showing the trials and tribulations of a diverse ensemble cast. Among the characters are Danny Huston’s Union soldier leader, Michael Rooker, Sam Worthington, and Luke Wilson.
PerVariety, the new footage emphasizes the monumental scale of “Horizon,” with Costner crafting a sweeping saga that unfolds over a decade. Horizon: An American Sagarepresents Costner’s grandest project, in terms of scale, to date. Initially conceived as a single film in 1988, it has evolved into a multi-part saga. Costner takes on multiple roles, serving as the star, director, writer, and producer of the films. While the first two chapters have confirmed release dates, Costner has expressed his desire to expand the saga into four films.
Recent divorce proceedings have uncovered court documents indicating that Costner has invested approximately $20 million into the production budget. “I’ve mortgaged 10 acres on the water in Santa Barbara where I was going to build my last house … But I did it without a thought. It has thrown my accountant into a f**king conniption fit. But it’s my life, and I believe in the idea and the story,” Costner said.

Horizon: An American Sagawill be released in two installments. Chapter 1 will premiere in theaters on June 16, 2025, followed by the release of Chapter 2 on July 12, 2025.
