It is quite rare that a big-budget superhero movie is co-written by its main star, but that’s exactly what happened with last year’sAnt-Man. AfterEdgar Wrightbacked out of directing the movie, starPaul Ruddand hisAnchormandirectorAdam McKayrewrote the script before production started with directorPeyton Reed. Back in December, it was confirmed thatAdam McKaywill helpPaul Rudd,Gabriel FerrariandAndrew Barrerhash out the story forAnt-Man and the Wasp, beforeRudd,FerrariandBarrersit down to write the actual script. During an interview on theSausage Partyred carpet,Paul Ruddrevealed that their initial treatment forAnt-Man and the Waspis finished.

Unfortunately,Paul Ruddwouldn’t shed too much light on the story in his interview withEntertainment Tonight. The actor teased that the story they have come up with is very “preliminary” and could change quite a bit before thesuperhero sequelhits theaters on July 18, 2025. Here’s what the actor-writer had to say below.

“We’ve been coming up with the story. We just turned in a treatment, but it’s so preliminary. We’ll see. We have an idea of what it might look like, but it could change a lot from where we’re at now, so I don’t really know. There’s not really anything concrete, I can tell you.”

The actor also chimed in on the latest addition to theMarvel Cinematic Universe,Brie Larson. After months of rumors, Marvel finally confirmed thatBrie Larsonhas signed on to star asCaptain Marvel, with the actress coming onto the stage during the studio’s Hall H panel at Comic-Con. When asked about what he thought about the actress joining the MCU, he had nothing but positive things to say.

“I love that, LoveBrie Larson. I think she’s incredible. I think we’ve very lucky to haveBrie Larsonin the fold.”

As forAnt-Man 2, aside fromPaul RuddandEvangeline LillyasThe Wasp, no other cast members have been confirmed.Peyton Reedwill return to direct, but we don’t know for sure if otherAnt-Manstars such asMichael Pena,David Dastmalchian,T.I.,Bobby Cannavale,Judy GreerandMichael Douglaswill reprise their roles. Take a look atPaul Rudd’s video interview below, and stay tuned for more onAnt-Man and The Wasp.
