Everyone’s favorite ditzy fish is back! Check out the first trailer for the much-anticipated sequel that has one fishing forever swimming. Disney Pixar’sFinding Doryreunites the world’s most forgetful blue tang, Dory, with her friends Nemo and Marlin. Together, they go on a search for answers about her past. What can she remember? Who are her parents? And where did she learn to speak Whale?

Even though it will have been 13 years since we last sawNemoand all his pals, Finding Dory begins just six months after the first movie came to an end.Ellen DeGeneresis back to reprise her role as the title character. She is living what appears to be a nice, quiet life swimming amongst the other clown fish. But after setting off with Nemo on a class trip to see manta rays migrate back home, she becomes a bit homesick herself. This leads the forgetful blue tang on a quest to discover where she truly comes from.PixarPresident Jim Morris has this to say in a previous interview.

“The movie will be mostly set at the California Marine Biology Institute, a huge complex of sea life rehabilitation and aquarium, where Dory was born and raised. We will get to meet new characters, like an octopus, sea lions, a beluga whale, among others.”

Finding Nemowon the 2003 Academy Award for best animated feature. The film was nominated for three additional Oscars (original screenplay, original score, sound editing). It was also nominated  for a Golden Globe Award for best motion picture-comedy or musical. In 2008, the American Film Institute namedFinding Nemoamong the top 10 greatest animated films ever made. At the time of its release,Finding Nemowas the highest grossing G-rated movie of all time. It’s the fifth highest grossing animated film worldwide. The film has more than 19 million Likes on Facebook, and Dory. with more than 25 million, is the most liked individual character from a Disney or Disney•Pixar film.

The movie was originally set at a aquarium theme park, but the filmmakers changed their mind after viewing the controversial Sea World documentaryBlackfish, which looked at the dangers of keep killer whales in captivity. Pixar decided to instead have the plot take place at a Marine Biology Institute, which hopefully puts them on the right side of history. Some of the movie is also set along the California coastline, which will offer an opportunity to introduce fans to a whole new cast of colorful characters.

Finding Doryis directed byAndrew Stanton, who directed the original Pixar masterpiece, and produced by Lindsey Collins. The voice cast of Finding Dory is made up of new names and familiar faces.Diane KeatonandEugene Levyare set to voice Dory’s birth parents.
